My uncle was a very smart man but never applied himself in school or at work and died divorced, sick, and poor and after he died, my other uncle told me that while he was the dead uncle alive, he behaved exactly the way that I did by constantly scribbling notes onto a notepad and I even had the same posture and body language as him when I did it.
And before my uncle died, he left all kinds of slanderous and negative remarks about me to my family because he could not understand me and my train of thought due to my Christian background, and everything about me he did not understand, he ridiculed as a moral or social vice, so I think he made the error of allowing his old experiences to block out his willingness to consider the experiences of others.
Our lives are like Christmas gifts delivered in Amazon boxes, you have to work hard to tear open the box of pride and discard the trash of selfishness and puncture a hole, in the heart of laziness and remove the wrapper of confusion, to receive the sweet reward you paid full price to get, my uncle was not willing to break his mould of assumptions and he died without tasting the wine he had helped his daughter to plant which is an allegory to the healing power of God.
