Jesus said, if you focus on obeying God and helping others, God will give you happiness and all you need to be content and safe, the suffering is designed to mould you into obedience, it’s not the final face of obedience.

All prophets say the same thing :)
Thank you

Hi! As a son of a Vicar, I've been surrounded by religion most of my life. I am certainly not a theologian or scholar or even religious (any more) for that matter.
However, I am keenly aware of the difficulty of treating religious texts (specifically the Bible) as the actual and literal word of God.
Whilst there are lessons to be learned about being a good human being in all such texts, they are written by humans and as such, they are full of contradictions, biased opinions and honestly some pretty horrible and disgusting punishments, almost to the point of being fetishistic.
I've never relied on organised religion to guide my sense of spirituality but as a core values of mine are below:
Be good and kind to others, even when they aren't good to you. You never know what they're going through.
Defend what is right and support equality- irrespective of creed, race or gender. Speak up about it and be counted.
Reflect on actions and mistakes, make sincere apologies if in the wrong, then move on.
Limit the effects of toxicity of all kinds, and don't be afraid to cut people away.
Your happiness is not guaranteed- you must seek it out yourself.
I'd like to think God wouldn't need a place for hell- we go through that on Earth already, which is why it's so important to help and support others however you can.
I don't think God is particularly concerned about us obeying Him either. If what is written is true, then he's an omniscient, omnipresent and benevolent super-being who's immortal. As such, I don't think he'd give two hoots if we 'obeyed him' or not- I don't think he requires our validation 🤣
And if he does exist, he'd probably just want us to be good to each other rather than obedient to him, so I think you and the Bible are right on the money about helping others! Obeying him though? I struggle with that part.
Susej Dog is the old testement spelling of 'Sausage Dog'. The great and all might Sausage Dog is the true creator. He is the only real Diety, and quite a lazy one at that. Quite long too.
Texts written about him have been mistranslated backwards, to form 'Jesus' and 'God', which have apparently been adapted into a couple of man Made Religions.
wow thanks
