“He who finds a wife finds himself a good thing.” Does that mean every woman a guy dates, he sees her as his wife? or just certain women?

I think that's taken too litteral.
It pretty much just means "when a guy marries a woman he really loves, he has something more precious than anything else, and will be happy".
I myself, when dating someone, am dating them with the intention/hope of marrying that person someday, but I know most people just date to either fool around or have sex, so most people don't see their date as an eventual, potential wife
I agree, but how do you know a guy is dating with the intent to marry you in the future and when he is only dating you for sex?
Honestly, I have no idea how to tell. I can't imagine dating someone just to have sex, or entering a relationship where I know it would just be temporary. I think the best way to tell is to see how long a guy would be willing to wait with sex. My parents always told me that if a girl wants to have sex right after meeting me, she isn't sincere enough. So maybe saying you want to wait till marriage to have sex and seeing the guy's reaction would be a good indication, but don't take my word on that, I can't guarantee that's a good method
"By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.'

You have to read the other scriptures of the book of proverbs to see what kind of women is talking about.
The kind of wife its meant is a good wife and not just anybody because some women are terrible wives.
no wife = glorious life. A guy does not need to have a woman in his life to have a great life.
Makes no sense...
