Muslims, Do You Believe The Niqab Is Obligatory Or Sunnah/Voluntary?

Everyone knows that hijab is obligatory.
But so much debate over whether or not niqab is. I have realized the majority of Muslims I talk to do not support niqab.

Yes. The niqab is 100% mandatory and should be worn at all times, no matter where you are. Most scholars who preach the true word of Allah agree with this. It brings you closer to God. It protects you from the make gaze. It removes the need for fashion concerns (hair, make up, clothing etc.). It acts as a protective layer for the skin against the sun. It helps to eliminate the amount of pollution you breathe in. Most importantly it shows the world that you are a pious individual who follows the word of god accurately and respects the wishes of Allah. Though it may be uncomfortable occasionally (hot days etc) the sacrifice is more than worth it in the end. I could never go a day without my niqab. I feel totally naked without it.

@Noodle_fan I usually wear a three layer niqab so that I can cover my eyes most of the time but reveal them at certain times like when it gets too hot.

you are sayin you used niqab that cover your eyes , i am curious if if it disturb your vision?

@Noodle_fan it is just referred to as a three layer niqab. And no, it does not impede vision much at all and you get used to it very quickly. Once you are used to it though, you literally never want to remove it.

It's Sunnah.
Not Obligatory.
Because if you cover with Hijab properly there is no need for Niqab.

I'm not Muslim, but I do know people who are and I don't think they say it's mandatory.

I have heard it came from a cultural thing or a culture that oppressed women and forced them to cover up that much, but I don't know how true the latter is.

Depending on how your interpret Islam, some can argue and say the hijab isn't mandatory e. g. I don't think all Quranists believe that, though they are supposed to be a tiny minority and don't represent the majority.

I'm not an expert on this but I do know this is not a straightforward matter. Everybody interprets their own way. My opinion: it's the woman's own choice but if she doesn't want to show her face, she should just stay at home. Stay away from public spots. And don't even dream of working where they need public dealing face to face.

Yes women should not work and they should restrain from going out. But when going out, should a woman wear niqab?

It's her life. She can do as she pleases. As for me, if I see such women in public, I do not hold any respect for them. I only look at them as environment pollution.

On the other hand, I completely respect the head scarf.

"Hijab" in reality means something else.

Yes. A woman should always the niqab when leaving the house in any capacity. She should preferably live behind her veil. That way she gets used to it and there is no longer an issue of needing to figure out if it is appropriate or not because she wears it all the time anyway.
