Many of you might not know this but celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving is looked down upon the church all across Europe where Christianity came to existance.
Matthew 15:3 He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
Celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving goes strictly against the first two commandments.
1. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall not make idols.
According to Christianity you shall burn in hell for eternity if you celebrate these two holidays. So why do you do it? Do you not care about the teachings of God? What makes you think God will be forgiving? Thousands of priests say he won't. So why do you keep sinning? Now that you know will you stop celebrating them? Or will you simply not care and call a priest to your death bed to confess these sins so you could get in to heaven?

Okay first off, pagan did have a Halloween but it is nothing like what we have to day nor what we celebrate it for.
Then a lot of other religons and cultures have different reasons why the celebrate some days, i mean just look at the day of the dead which is another version of Halloween. So you celebrating a day because of decrations and candy don't mean you going agaist the bible, because your not celebrating because you believe what the pagans or other people believe.
Then saying Halloween is just a pagan hoilday is totally wrong since many places created there own Halloween hoildays. Plus all dates have changed so your not even celebrating it on the right time nor day the pagans where.
And by the way Christmas is also a pagan hoilday well not just a pagan hoilday like i said it is many peoples hoildays for different reasons.
Also no one really knows when jesus was born so it is clear that christans took Christmas that was already a thing people celebrated, and said well might as well lie and celebrating it as christ day, and change it's name because the pagans, and many others never called it Christmas of course.
Also Thanksgiving been pagan no that's just wrong, Thanksgiving was made by christans that settled in america sure maybe some low key pagans went of there and celebrated the hoilday with them. And maybe pagans celebrated that date for a totally different reason but Thanksgiving is not pagan.

Sorry but I don't agree with you. If not pagan, what type of holiday is Halloween to you? A federal holiday? It isn't a Christian one for sure. As I have staded before what truly makes a holiday pagan is its history and origins, regardless of its decorations or activities. Also the first pilgrims were Puritans aka English Reformed Protestants who sought to "purify" the Church of England from its "Catholic" practices. The point of this question was to present that people don't really care about the original teachings. To each his own, Christianity and its teachings are a lot more deformed from what they used to be, slowely becoming just a fairy tale which no one takes seriously.
You do realise there is the day of the dead that is basically a version of Halloween that wasn't created by pagans, and no Halloween is not a christan one but nethier was origanlly Christmas so... And orignally Halloween was just a day that was know as last harvest day i am pretty sure which has nothing to do with any religon therefore fine for anyone to celebrate it.
Then yes but it was puritans and christans that went over and Thanksgiving wasn't celebrate until quite a bit after settling in American, so not pagan and it was celebrated by both puritans, and christans just basically celebrated by the new americans nothing to do with religon.
And tbh all i think all religons are fairy tales i mean people used to believe in greek gods and roman gods and there super weird and clearly made up, but people used to believe that so people can and will believe anything pretty much so i think there all fairy tales that people fallow.
Your opinion does not comport with reality. Thanksgiving is not a pagan holiday. Holloween is base on one but isn't exactly one either.
You know what is really pagan? Easter. That's pagan af. Named for a pagan goddess who would come down in the form of a white rabbit and leave colored eggs to delight the children.
So is Christmas. Bringing in a tree from outside and lighting it. the exchange of gifts at this time of year. The yule log and so much more. All pagan religious traditions.
The church had a habit of moving dates for things like the resurrection and the birth of Jesus around to line them up with pagan holidays. That way they could coop any localities traditional practices as Christian. By doing that they would have to ban those practices. So one could be Christian and still do all the fun pagan stuff they used to.

I don't see how Thanksgiving is a "pagan" holiday. Also works don't get people saved or from going to hell, believing in Christ and accepting him does. That's what a Christian does. Christians don't live by the old testament. Galatians 2:16 "Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." Also Romans 4:6-7

I'm not Christian but i never celebrated either including Christmas. But once i move out and start a family I will. I want my kids to enjoy those holidays. Plus I most Americans don't celebrate them for religious purposes anyway.

Same here, I don't believe in any of it but it is a nice way of getting the family all together. Yeah I haven't met a religious American ither in real life. At least not as religious as for example many Polish people, it is almost fanatical here, we have religion class in school since age of 7 to all the way through high school. But I give it 50 years at most and it will catch up to the rest of the civilized world.

If you are talking about All Saint's Day on November 1, that wasn't Irish. The Irish Church celebrated All Saint's Day in the spring until they were required to adopt German practices.
@HereIbe I think they are two separate days of Allhallowtide which is the triduum encompassing the Western Christian observances of All Saints' Eve (Halloween), All Saints' Day (All Hallows') and All Souls' Day, which last from 31 October to 2 November annually. Allhallowtide is a "time to remember the dead, including martyrs, saints, and all faithful departed Christians.
They're not separate. The Orthodox Church has the same triduum, but it is in the spring. The old Irish calendars (such as the Martyrology of Oengus) makes it plain that the Irish Church's triduum of All Saints/All Souls, etc was in the spring at one time. The November date was imposed by Rome, not adopted by Rome.
@HereIbe I the celtic church famously choose to submit to the authority of the Rome and stay in communion of rome at the Synod of Whitby. The Celtic churches all venerated the bishop of rome.

Whitby ONLY had jurisdiction in the Kingdom of Northumbria, which was NOT CELTIC, furthermore it was in England. The king and queen each followed different calendars. Thus, Whitby resolved that issue FOR NORTHUMBRIA. The synod had NO JURISDICTION OUTSIDE NORTHUMBRIA. What box of cereal are you getting "church history" from?
@HereIbe the kingdom of Northumbria had Celtic churches and monasteries everywhere. Celtic Christianity was spread from Ireland to Scotland, to northern England, to Cornwall even onto the European continent. Lindisfarne shown within Northumberland. The Synod of Whitby was the start.

For salvation to occur there must be repentance, but repentance is simply the evidence of salvation, not the means of it. Jesus and faith in him is the means of salvation.
Valentine's Day is a pagan holiday, but now it's change to St. Valentine's Day so Christian change holidays to suit their beliefs

Church neets to adapt if they don't want to loose their followers. The earliest reliably documented mention of the spherical Earth concept dates from around the 6th century BC when it appeared in ancient Greek philosophy, yet the church decided to prosecute for hundreds of years anyone who said otherwise. This is one of the reasons why I lost all faith in it. It just keeps making up new rules as it goes. Also witches used to be a thing, and they aren't anymore, because drowning girls simply wouldn't fly these days. It is just filled with hypocrisy everywhere you look.
Thanksgiving isn't a pagan holiday, it's an American holiday to give thanks it celebrates no god. Second I love Halloween. However in my house it's called samhain.

Well I am 100% sure God was created by humans not the other way arround. So no "worship" on my part.
No I don’t celebrate that. That are American Traditions. Pegan Traditions like cutting a tree and put them in our house and collecting eggs however we do celebrate in Germany
@Sixgun77 it's a night of dance and bonfires held to keep away witches witch are said to have a big gathering on top of the blocksberg that time around.
It might even go back to the witch burnings of feudal times.
Thanksgiving is not even a thing in my country, Halloween as only became on recently and we have a different tradition in the same day (wich is being wiped out by Halloween)

Same here, Halloween is being "celebrated" only for the past 10-15 years or so, but not like in the U. S where kids go from house to house and collect candy. It is just as a theme for parties in clubs and such.
Our tradition was "Bread by god" (rough translation) where poorer people would go around wealtier people's home asking for food for the love of God. Nowadays it was kids doing the same but not because they were starving. People seldom give candy and most times they give, figs, nuts, apples, oranges, crackers, stuff like that. Small kids now do it the Halloween way and get lots of candy now
@HungLikeAHorsefly I really wish Christianity never came to existance. If I had a time machine I'd make sure it never did, entire Europe had these amazing gods and deities like Ēostre and many many others. But Christianity wiped out almost all the memory of them and converted everyone under the threat of death. The world would be much more colorful and diverse if they haven't done so. This makes me a little sad.
They are religious, they are part of the secular religion of the state. It's always so amusing how pathetic little hypocrites are so quick to make excuses about flag worship and other "patriotic" bullshit.
