Do knowledge and understanding make you content and happy as a person?
Your opinion?
I would say you are correct.
The more you know the more you suffer. That is why ignorance is bliss, but only to be point that some unknown underlying problem doesn’t kill you, because you’re ignorant of it.
Of course remaining willfully ignorant is a plague within itself.
Of course if you’re knowledge and understanding can be used to help people, then in the grand scheme of things some individuals can take solace in that fact.
Yeah unfortunately more knowledge and understanding generally leads to more unhappiness in some ways, as you realize how bad some things really are. Imagine how much nicer life would be if you had no idea you were going to die some day, for example.
Thanks for MHO
Sometimes ignorance is bliss.. But sometimes, being too informed and know it all gives you more stress as you already know too much

Look at knowledgeable people and see if it makes them happy. I'd say that doesn't really seem to be the case. I'd guess this is because ignorance is bliss, with knowledge and understanding comes the recognition that we're rather meaningless. Elon Musk may be one of the most intelligent people alive and if you listen to him the pessimism is readily apparent.
That said happiness, in my opinion, is largely a choice. I've known homeless people who seem incredibly happy and those who seem incredibly sad. I've known rich people who seem incredibly happy and those who seem incredibly sad.
Hard to say, i enjoy having my eyes opened but that comes with the heavy price of fear. You can only stare in the abyss for so long. But it does make me happy that i can think up real solutions and i take pride in my thoughts. Overal it brought me more positives then negatives but the true happyness won't come from it until i helped make the world a better place. Until then i enjoy other things to make me happy.
Knowledge keeps you safe.. secure and understanable.. So my opinion is yes!
But your opinion also gives happiness because unknowingness makes you happy. But not matured!
Well, maturity is not depends only a single things. Its depends on physical growth, mental growth, sociological growth.. So for all of that you need a really understandable, knowledgable and healthy lifestyle...
Common knowledge yes, but too much knowledge can increase your stress levels.
It doesn't make you happy, but it does make you content.
I would agree.
I think Alexander Pope said it best "How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d"
Ignorance is bliss.
The more you know, the more you learn that there is more to know.
You hardly ever see a person with Down syndrome not smiling.
It helps this Wise Ol Owl. xx
