+1 yCertainly not. Simply on the contention that religion adds nothing to peoples lives that isn't placebo. I don't even need to get into religiously motivated conflict or anything else - Only that adding religious beliefs to people who don't presently hold them, would not improve the individuals in any way. They aren't going to be /more/ tolerant, or /more/ charitable, theists demonstrate this all the time.

+1 yReligious? I would have to say no to. Following a religion and being simple is what I'd prefer more than anything. I'm a Christian myself but I'm not religious. I just believe in God and do good things and be a good person. I don't do anything "extreme" when it comes to religion.

Oh yes, let's go back to the middle ages, let's throw in religion will arrange marry you at like 13-16 too against your will, which is legal in many states I might add, for someone that young to be married and she will be property of her husband.
That won't cause any problems at all smh10 Reply
It's a tough one... No, I do not. Because it's not religion it's the particular distortion or conduction of religious beliefs manifested in people's actions, what counts. And knowing people, no, it'd be much the same in total in regards better or worse place.

Look at all the conflicts happening between countries and inside their borders. Most of the root cause for them is religion. I know people should still find a way to discriminate and fight but I believe the world would have been a better place without religion.
00 ReplyI won't be a slave though and what religion you mean mine don't have a name it's not like anything I see as people become twisted into a brainwashed state, controlled into something that don't even appear human no more and why want everyone to be like most of the demonic people's that are fanatical about this I don't want that no.
00 ReplyIt would be hell. World would be better without a religion. One less reason to argue and divide people. A big chunk of wars in history can be blamed fully or partially on religion.
10 ReplyYou mean going back to the dark ages?
Yeah, I don't think we need another period of religious tyranny.10 Reply
+1 yyes , for it was made by God and the world would be a better place to live if we all did what the bible says to do and not do ! thanks

+1 yNot really, maybe if everyone had the same religion (also if everyone would be atheist), but we still would find reasons to hate other people for.

Maybe, but these things have been done with the support of the Vatican and many christians in the past.
So i would say, yes you are right, but you don't need to convert to christianity or any other religion to follow these rules.
I think the world would be a better place
Christianity teaches us to be forgiving, charitable and meek.
A world like that would be much more peaceful and understanding00 Reply2.3K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Fuck no. That would be horrible. There would be no cures for disease because everyone will just think god will save them and there will be war over which one.

@hknmhmn4 People would be killed for working on Saturday or for "blasphemy" or "apostasy". Women would be back to mediaeval times and homosexuals would all be murdered. Science and medicine would go out the window and humanity would plunge into the most terrifying authoritarian rule ever seen.

@hknmhmn4 the Bible also says though shalt not worship other gods blah blah blah and it's punishable by death. There is also condoned rape and even homosexual rape in the Bible. The God of the bible is the most unpleasant character in all fiction. If everyone was atheist, we would have ethics and morals based on actual rationality, not superstition.
+1 yWe had that world in the past, and there is a reason for why it is left in the past.
10 Reply512 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. no... for every moral code religion teaches it also causes a holy war so i prefer basic humanity

According to the Encyclopedia of Wars, out of all 1,763 known/recorded historical conflicts, 123, or 6.98%, had religion as their primary cause.

@hknmhmn4 fine but i see you haven't addressed my other point on personal opinion givent that i now realize you copy and pasted your own post on every other users post that suggested a counter view to your own... in future i might suggest you stick to your own post to make a statement... you know just like everyone else on this question did
That actually depends on religion.
For example take a person practising bhuddism and A muslim!!00 ReplyI think it would be a much better place if nobody was.
30 ReplyIt’s impossible
But I think if everybody strongly followed the values of Bible. There wouldn’t be theft/murder/rape/adultery/cheating and more things. So the world would be perfect00 Reply
+1 yNo, it would be worse
Because we saw in middle age when, religious people controlled everything, how was it, war was happening every few months, because every religion is opposite to others00 Reply308 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. No it would be a FAR better place if all the religious people disappeared
10 ReplyYes. The fact we don't share a common moral structure is why we have issues among people's.

@AcidT0y If you are from the Uk your heritage is christian and your beliefs come from a christian foundation which our nation was built on. The difference between the seventeen hundreds and today is we are trying to keep the morals without the beliefs, but the foundation and bases for morality is and always will be religious.
This is historical fact, nothing extreme about it.
