In solely the material sense, yes. The world would be a better place without religion as there is a direct correlation between religion and mass poverty, which is a huge reason behind a lot of the world’s greatest preventable tragedies, and richer nations are often more atheistic.


But there is value in finding something to believe in. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a specific god, but believing in something else can be helpful for those who want to find a purpose beyond the materialism.

1, religion gave major benefits.

2, also so SWEET of you to mention greed, like the ukraine war, when mentioning conflict, so those same wars, that used religion as an excuse... for example the muslim conquest and islamic occupation in asia and africa, would have happened, by same greedy people, even without religion.

The WORST wars, world war one and 2 both were "caused without religion" so religion is just an excuse, to do what they would do for greed. Total of violence would be same.

I concede, less beheadings 'without religion" but we can't blame "religion" for one of the religions.

Religion itself didn't do much harm, it gave out ancestors comfort in hard times, fed the poor and cared for the sick. The problems largely came from royalty and politicians who used it to justify their wars and wicked deeds.
