Here's how: prepping for realistic disasters in your area, both natural and potentially man made, rather than fanciful ones like the zombie apocalypse or even a nuke war, the last of which, while potentially real, I don't think we can prepare for except spiritually.

A generator for a longer term power outage, stored fuel (be safe about this) and stored plastic water bottles by the case is ideal. Guns and ammunition, for barter even if you don't know how to use them (although you SHOULD know how, it is a practical skill).

If you are a Costco or Sam's club or other "Big Box Warehouse Store" shopper, you probably already get in bulk (for economy savings) the following already anyway month in and month out:
--soup mix
---canned food or soup
--freeze dried food
--toilet paper
--soaps
--other non perishable things that can be bought in bulk

This could depend upon where you live, for instance, if you are in a floodplain, have high ground somewhere nearby. If you are in earthquake, hurricane or tornado regions, prep for those. If you are close to a chemical refinery or other heavy industry, well, hazmat preparation would be a good idea in case of an accident, or worse, deliberate terrorism and poisons resulted. If you are near a major city or a state/provincial or national political capital, urban unrest, of the AntiFa (ProComm) goon variety, is a possibility. Draw inspiration from Kyle Rittenhouse if they try to come to your neighborhood.

Some people are into bugging out to a remote retreat, this might make sense in the inner cities if you have a reliable and durable escape transportation to get there, but as a homeowner, I say no, dig in where you are, and make your home your retreat. Now I am working in the office in a downtown, so knowing good escape routes and small weapons for your person and the car are a good idea to get back to the home retreat, depending upon what happens and when.

AND - if you have good neighbors, get to know them. A Neighborhood Watch, a Welcome Wagon, a Block Party, can be a good thing. I know for some people this is hard, especially how atomized we all have become, but it is worth a try. He or she or they may disagree with you on Government Policy X or Lifestyle Y, but you all can agree you want the kids to play safely and no outlaw gangs coming into your area.

I dunno. Don't fear death?

Once my husband, father, and uncle die in some doomsday scenario, I will end my life. That is, if I don't have a child to try and live for. Dying isn't that bad and it's not as hard as some people think it is. Living a very lonely life with constant and unimaginable pain is not only hard but pointless.

Chekhov put it beautifully: "Which executioner is the more humane, he who kills you in a few minutes or he who drags the life out of you in the course of many years."

there's a long way to doomsday. as you see literally every doomsday prediction is wrong. the earth isn't likely to end until like a million years. life's too short to be worrying about it either. enjoy yourself <3
