Christians, Are you a true follower of Christ or Just a Christian in name?

This is a post from one loving Christian to many others. Basically this is a house cleaning call for the Church. Before it starts, I will be the first to admit I have failed many times so this is not a blame game.

The Bible tells us to hold each other accountable in faith. The Bible also tells us that there are many "Christians" who will utter his name and even do works in his name that will still go to Hell. The fate of these Christians in name is the same as atheists and those who follow other faiths alike. Jesus claims he will tell them to depart for he never knew them.

To be a true Christian, the FIRST STEP is to believe in Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. This is where most people get hung up and think this is all there is to salvation.

The SECOND STEP is where we fall. That step is to walk in love and obedience to God. We do not read the Bible like we should. We continue to CHOOSE sin that pleases us. That is not a repentant heart. That is not carrying out God's will. This step is where we are accountable for having steered souls we could have reached with the Gospel AWAY from God because our lives do not match our preachings. I am guilty of this myself but I acknowledge this and will work to fix this.

To be accepted in the home of Jesus, we must believe in him AND do as he commands. Jesus does promise to forgive the sins of those who turn to him. This means we still have action to take. That action is to actively seek forgiveness and repent, read the Bible, do as Jesus commanded in it and spread God's will, which IS the gospel AND serving the community where it needs to be served.

Are you a "Christian" or a Christ-Follower? Do you just go to church on Sunday then forget about Jesus or do you actively find a way to advance the Gospel/help those in need find Jesus? Do you act in a manner that shows the fruits of Galatians or do you act in a manner where the fruit is smearing Jesus's name and repelling people away from him?
