  Socialism was a concept developed in large part by Karl Marx… an atheist. Friedrich Engels, who helped formulate the idea, had grown up in a Protestant family, but abandoned the cult later on. Christian socialism was adopted after the classification of socialism- it was not a Christian idea, just an idea that Christians stole and claimed as their own, similar to other beliefs of theirs.

  @SamA_nold Christian socialism predates the birth of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. In France Philippe Buchez began to characterize his philosophy as Christian socialism in the 1820.
