Multiple reasons the biggest moment was the The time of enlighenment and the idea that the Bible isn´t God´s word but God speaks in the Bible. Meaning in Germany and other countries came an idea that the Bible in isn´t inspired by is actually written by humans and that had experiences with God.
There came up a series of critics towards the Bible that focused on seemingly contradictions that were accepted and followed through from within Christianity, though there were people that tried to stop that they were ignored and later forgotten because the majority of Christians kind of accepted those ideas in some way or the other.
That way a method that is called historical-critical methode that reads the bible in a liberal way and also a neglect of discipleship teachings that ask people to really give their life to Jesus and read the Bible lead to an attendance of about 0,01% at best oftentimes it´s even less.
Besides that Christianity has become and more a cultural thing that developed European culture but that´s not prominent in society.
The most prominent cultural between Europe and America is probably that religion is a private business in Europe. Like here your religion/faith is your business. Everybody shall do what suits them best.
That led to a philosophical concept of relativism that says that anything is subjective. Like there is no objective truth in the world.
Like your religion, is your truth because you find their arguments sound best. So go for it!
Multiple events spanning roughly from the onset of the crusades (particularly the 4th one onwards) up through the French Revolutionbin which the church was getting its hands stained in politics and the corruption that comes with it. Ever since, the church has been largely hands-off on world issues or only making fairly weak statements, which doesn't do much for outreach.
Most religions rely heavily on its followers having large families in order to grow. Since Christianity is predominantly in the more developed parts of the world, Christian families typically have fewer kids, and therefore slow or even negative growth.
The Catholic church is growing in the United States, but the part being left out in that statistic is that it's mostly because of people converting from protestant Christianity, and young adults who grew up in religious households abandoning the church when they left the house and coming back to it a decade later, typically when they're starting their own families. Immigration from central America is also feeding into it as well.
The progress of science and philosophy, coupled with the declining military strength of that religion has allowed free though and reason to guide more people. So much of the illogical nature of religion in general, especially various dogmas and conflicts, have been revealed. Reason is prevailing because we are more free and educated as a global community, and much of this began in Europe.
Also, many criminal actions by leading members of that religion have been revealed, and this seems to have had an effect on membership.
I think if Christianity declines in any place, it’s because the faith is based on pain and fear and not on a genuine desire and delight in God.

i would say enlightenment. it is a slow process that started in the french revolution when people realized christianity is a tool used as legitimation for oppressive governance. and once secularization was a thing, people realized that there was really no other point to that doctrin. i mean psychology and philosophy has advanced way past christianity in the last 2000 years so people are slowly catching up tot hat xD. it's the same in the arab spring. i would say it's the human hivemind slowly getting smarter and evolving.
Maybe people realized that church officials were a bunch of authoritarian assholes, control freaks and some of the most evil people in the history of the world.
Maybe they read a science book.
Maybe more than anything else it because acceptable to actually not believe that stuff without being burned at the stake, chastised or outcast from society. So basically it was "allowed" for people to not believe the church doctrine, so they didn't.
The lack of interest in it. Since the beginning of 1800 Christianity has become more and more of a cultural thing and has destroyed itself from within starting with theology that´s more and more questioning itself, the lack of being able to give answers, churches have lost the connection to the people.
It´s general the problem that life and preaching pastors have become inconsistent.
Better information. It's not just Europe. It's also happening in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. It's accelerated by the internet -- skeptics see that they are far from alone. Also the social pressure to pretend to be Christian has evaporated as the population has migrated from small communities to large cities. In many professions the general assumption is that people are not religious. I've been in high tech for decades and have met only a handful of Christians.
Historically, people started following secular humanism more. Their understanding of Christianity has become more deistic and human-centered. Exactly why, I don't think we'll fully know. Ultimately it's how God works and moves through humanity. Africa is and has always been a major area for Christianity. Now East Asia is seeing an explosion in followers of the faith.
Hypocrisy of the older generation, saying something but doing another. Old women were know to be extremely judgmental and mean to everyone while also describing themselves as good Catholic and attending church every time they could.
Liberal theology that incorporated Secular viewpoints “to evangelize or seem relevant” which made God human-like. Damn, Enlightenment 💩 SINCE man is fallen and never self corrects or evolves into Good
Progressive politics usualy advances the notion that people should be free to engage in whatever behavior they choose without consequences. That is inconsistent with Christian practices.
Because when religions have full control.. They show their true colors... they don't seek justice and modesty.. They seek power and division.. Everything becomes so corrupt and people live in misery... And revolution will come sooner or later...
They stopped FORCING people to convert or be tortured down
in Castle Dungeons or burnt at the stake or drown as 'witches', etc... Duhhh

Probably decades of wealth. The more material things you get, the more they lead you astray from God.
Too much using religion to manipulate people. People realizing that religious leaders didn't have all the answers. In the Catholic Church they were using the cloak of religion to hide abuse of children and others.
Feminism. It's the rise of this pro-tranny stuff to anti-gun stuff.

Nothing. They are still strong Bible and Jesus Christ loving Christians in Europe by the millions.
The fakes just left as they are supposed to as the Bible teaches.
This is a cope. There will be no magical revival in the West.
Because people don’t like the exclusivity of Christianity and Catholicism
they don’t understand that not all people r allowed to participate in aspects of Mass
Socialism has become religion. Government has become G0d.
Probably socialism. Though Christianity was a big part in the decline of Islam espicially the Ottoman Empire.
I don’t think Christianity has declined as much as more non Christians have moved there. Remember though, this is not our home.
Eastern Europe got hit by Soviet Union really hard. In Czechoslovakia, they were actively trying to eradicate it. So that one-two lost generations definitely play a role in the decline in that region.
It started in the 60s with rock and roll drugs, abortion, prayer out of school. Pademic and other things but I am starting to mow with a work to bring back the church stronger and growing
People waking up to the fact it is a myth.
all the hatred and exclusion?
Exclusion?
Not all people r allowed to participate in certain aspects of Christian masses because that would be considered as sacreligious. Not everyone can be included in the Eucharist for example. A Muslim can’t eat the Body of Christ. It’s not exclusion or racism it just isn’t allowed
More widespread and accessible education. .
