I´d something like to add some clarifications about what are bigger and minor issues when it comes to talking being a Christian.
I´d also put an arrangement at the back giving a clarification of which texts are descriptive (meaning they describe a certain situation being bad or good) and which are actually normative (meaning they are a list to follow also nowadays) because many people misunderstand that not every text in the bible is normative, there are different kind of genres in the Bible.
There are also texts that describe a situation but that doesn´t mean that bible says it´s good that it happened.
I would some wanna remove texts that are either kind of duplicate meaning they describe something a second time.

I'm not sure if I'd add or remove anything. The Bible, though important, is not the sole or even primary rule of faith. In fact, there are verses in the New Testament that invalidate such. That and the fact that the early Councils and Fathers of the Church were much closer to the times, languages, cultures, ways of speaking, and methods of citation in which the Bible was written. That said, my input wouldn't amount to much.

The bits about God. A lot of it makes sense, even most atheists can agree with the underlying message, we just need the god did it stuff taken out.

I would add details that tell you how to interpret the bible and I would remove verses about God loving Rachel more than Leah

    Two things:
    1. A non-question. There's nothing to make the Bible "better", by better I presume you only mean things you don't like personally. But "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
    -2 Timothy 3:16-17

    2. It is sacrilige to add or take away anything from the Bible. The Bible is already perfect (and please for you non-Christians don't ensue on the whole different translations spiel, I don't know how many times I've had to correct people on this). So why would it be logical to seek to add or take away anything from that which is already the full Truth? “You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commands of the Lord your God which I command you.”
    -Deuteronomy 4:2

Lol tell that to the council of nicaea who ripped 40+ books out of the Bible in 325 ad..

@worldscolide The Bible also states that God watches over his Word. Everything meant to be in there is in there, everything not meant to be in there, isn't. There's context to the Nicean meeting more than just "they ripped out books".

But they still removed books. The only complete example of the Bible is the codex Sinaiticus, which was written prior to the council, which contains more books than what we have now.. Additionally, take the king James Bible.. Something about the British monarchs of that time that you may or may not know. Every single one rewrote the Bible to suit their needs. As did King James. So no one today is reading the Bible as it was originally written. Period.

@worldscolide The fact of God's sovereign will has passed you by. If you're going to argue out of a Christian perspective, you cannot do so without accepting the premise of an Almighty God. Else you're arguing from an atheist perspective defeating the purpose of this question. God watching over His word means that He, obviously, as omnipotent doesn't allow fallacies in His spoken Word to mankind. He's perfectly capable of ensuring that Scripture only contains the truth.

So, with the theology of it covered: You're making it sound like we have no idea what the "real" Bible says, but we still have all the original copies of the dead sea scrolls, the Masoretic text, Coptic translations, Septaugint, Vulgate, Peshitta, Textus Receptus among others. But here's the base line: For the New Testament alone we have 25,000+ sources with which we could compile the Bible into its original form. *None* of these sources disagree on any of the important doctrines you can find in the Bible of today. Different translations exists that differ in some ways and to certain degrees on interpretations of certain passages or semantics of others, but not on the Faith itself. Some translations can indeed be considered better than others, which we are also, aware of. The original Hebrew Canon of OT was finished with the book of Malachi in already in 420 BC by special Jewish scribes under specific and careful rules to ensure they accurately copied the text. In summation: We are not as Christians in the dark concerning what we read and what the original text in both Hebrew and Greek is.

You're displaying the kind of superficial "knowledge" that you've probably derived from others. But any who seriously do their research will come to these disclosed conclusions.

Considering you choose to belittle me for being atheist, remember there are people out there, like me who were once Christian, who became atheist because of life circumstances, specifically I was brutalized by foster families because I didn't believe what they believe. Brutalized, and drugged. And denied food water and bathroom privileges for days at a time.. After that I chose to extensively study religion and the history of the church.. Suffice it to say I know more about the history of your religion than most Christians do. Don't belittle those that are different from you.. It never ends well.

@worldscolide I did not belittle you whatsoever, it rather seems like you're just being defensive. And to say that "you know more about the faith than most Christians" well that can be seen as belittling Christians. How do you know that is a fact? I know many, many of my Christian friends who've studied the texts. Others haven't, for them, Faith is enough. Because God showcases His grace, help and love daily to us.

Now you have my condolences for those horrid things happening to you. But any foster family committing such heinous crimes are not Christian, and I trust as you have studied extensively you know that to be true as it isn't justifiable Biblically by any means.

Perhaps you interpreted my finishing passage as me belittling you, well sorry in that case. I always aim to keep cordial discourse as long as it depends on me. But you must understand that I am thoroughly used to extremely hostile engagements whenever discussing Faith. If any part of what I say seems unwarrentedly harsh then point it out.

id paraphrase the old testament to remove the awfulness... something like "a lot of awful stuff happened and we needed a savior", a lot of it and keep the nt except revelations.
add, "you know where to find me when you are ready".

I would redo the whole thing. Have it dictated by an angel and I write it down. No stories, no quotes, ... . Just modern society stuff we can understand.
    Example:
" Didn't think I'd have to write this one down for you, but don't rape people. It's fucked up. "

I'm not Christian.. But I would add back in all 46 of the books that the council of nicaea removed, which basically turned women into servants in the church not equals. Not kidding, the gospel of Mary magdalane had her as one of the apostles.

for starters... it would be good if there was only ONE "universal" bible and only one version of it, and not multiple interpretations of them

Not Christian but I would like to see better clarification of which parts of Mosaic law (if any) still applied to Christianity. Obviously Kosher is out but homophobia is still in etc.

I don’t think I would add or remove anything because it is what it is. It’s not my place to change it.
