The gist of it remains the same, but yes, it has out of necessity. When an entire scripture or words are added into translations (that don't exist in the copies of the ancient text) a decision has to be made about if an adjustment is needed, or if the addition conveys the meaning more accurately.

The best way to read the Bible is to look for themes and patterns, not read it literally. For example, I know very few fellow believers who think Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and her colt, at the same time...(Matthew 21:1-7, depending on the version). Some people would use that as an example of a contradiction, since the other gospels don't say two. However, the point is that he went into Jerusalem for Passover, not that he rode two animals at the same time. The point isn't how many, it's whether he did or didn't ride the animal consistent with Jewish prophecy. It's like when we say we love ice cream. We don't literally love ice cream, but we are expressing that it makes us feel good.

There are lots of things like that in the Bible. For example, one of the biggest reasons (if not the main reason) Christians walk away from the faith is evolution, particularly if they were brought up with a strong Young Earth worldview. They encounter the evidence for evolution and they either have to say "Lalalalala, I hear nothing" or they have to say "Maybe the message of the text isn't 'how long' ", but "In the beginning, God created...".

The point is that the Bible cannot be read effectively without two other essential components in place: The Holy Spirit and fellow believers (a local church assembly).

The Holy Spirit (The Comforter, John 14:26) teaches us as Jesus would and brings conviction and comfort.

Fellow believers hold us accountable and challenge us with love if we make claims about what the Holy Spirit (or the Bible) told us that are inconsistent with the character of Christ. The first and truest evidence of a true believer is love (agape). Galatians 5:22-25 "But the fruit (evidence) of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control...".

There are translation disagreements according to certain types of interpretive exegetical schools of thought, between the different books. There are also verbal transitions imputed to account for the multi century evolutions of language over the years, and this is unavoidable because the original bible was in Aramaic and possibly Hebrew. The bible is a metaphysical and conundrum level document as well as a grace of both direct and multi tiered social commentary in singular segmented havens so it's categorical dimensions cannot be judged or degraded based on the precision of it's overall grammatical consistency between books.

Also, I don't write like this in school - I used more lucid language, but I think it's okay to take liberties when I'm not being graded on my speech.

It has always changed. The first few books are referred to w/ Greek term Septuagint as they identified at least seven different writers. ( The 1st book "Genesis that two completely different creation myths, one after another. None of the four gospel writers was even alive at the historical time of Jesus. Almost all of what is written in the Christian new testament is based on the writings of the Roman Paul. Jon was an artistically written story until someone with inferior writing ( and thinking) abilities so the middle is a well written and thought through discourse while a bit of the beginning and most of the end reads like a 3rd rate Danielle Steele novel.
There is nothing sacrilegious about this but it differs from say the Koran which is considered a 'closed book" meaning it is a record of what Gabriel said to to Mohammed and cannot be changed. If you read the apostles, they recount historical events completely differently. In the early 20th century the dead sea scrolls caused major revisions in thought stressing the validity of Thomas the Gnostic and the so-called desert Christians above Iraneus and the Orthodox church.

Nope. The evidence is solid to show it has been preserved. There are cases where certain scribes made small mistakes, but there are numerous other copies that carry the original text which allows bible scholars to trace the truth, identify small errors and classify them as such.

The interpretations certainly have, but for the OT we have the meticulousness of the scribes and the Septuagint to give us as indication that the message has been faithfully transcribed.

With the NT there and thousands and thousands of manuscripts, codices, and fragments, as well as early extra-biblical writings to again show the accuracy of transmission. Yes, there are disputed variants, but none that alters the essential message.

Of course it has, multiple times. It’s all due to intentional translation errors. The word “homosexual” didn’t appear in the bible until 1946, during a huge lavender scare, and they used it to replace the word that meant pedophile. It was a targeted, intentional mistranslation meant to validate the religious community’s homophobia at the time. Any English translation of the bible can’t be fully trusted.

Depends on which one. The KJV Bible is relatively unchanged as far as the English language in concerned. It says that John the baptist ate locusts and honey which is acctually not correct because the greek texts to English translates locusto to the Carob bean which is actually a chocholate alternative. They sort of left the word untranslated making it into him eating a insect.

The history of the Bible is filled with changes, language translations, and modernizations, mostly to make it easier for people to read and understand it.

Note that different parts of the Bible were originally written in several different languages, some that no longer exist.

It probably has. Things get misinterpreted over time, no one really knows who wrote it and why. There are so many different theories about the events portrayed in the Bible and who Jesus Christ really was.

The “original” -as they claim- was lost after translation from Greek. So all we have is a translation of the gospels. And “lost in translation” is an actual issue between languages.

The Bible is not a single entity. Some translations are too "interpretive". Others are more " literal". Good to use a parallel Bible that compares literal to interpretive. I have a NASB/NIV.

I understand, it's logical to think that a word changed here or thier when books get translated over the centuries from language to language that the meaning of some text might change.
