Why are some people atheist while some are theist?

What do you think causes this difference?

Many reasons. I imagine it gets more complex with age, IQ, knowledge acquired, location, culture, etc. But generally, atheistic people are just more critical of religion. The reason could be something as simple (or stupid) as they don't think it's a cool.

Personally, I'm an agnostic who's only atheist in response/relation to religion. But my views are likely deeper or more specific & practical than the average atheist. I'm pretty dope like that. eheh ☭ ͜ʖ ☭

But generally speaking, a lot of people would rather justify their beliefs than change them. And they won't have a great incentive to change if their belief is reaffirmed by people close to them. Even more so if they share a sense of community with them or are dependent on them in other ways.

Similar things can happen to atheists. We can still adhere to certain ideologies. Even ideologies that aren't religious can still be followed religiously & in a dogmatic manner (though I don't like doing that)! And the commonality is just like the religious people's. The yearning for a sense of identity and place of belonging!

I don't know all the reasons why we want identities. But it might be because they help us navigate the (social) world/dominance hierarchy which boosts our sense of self. And it goes hand in hand with "meaning" since we likely have to feel positive in the world to enjoy consciously embodying meaning in it. But I could be off on that. 🤔

I honestly don't know. I've seen plenty of people be complete shit and then when it starts to burn them they are all of a sudden religious. Then when the heat simmers down they go right back to their bullshit. From what I've learned those people are "fox hole" religious. They dive into it only when it suits them.

I've thought about becoming religious for myself by myself just to give myself a sense of meaning or purpose. I guess I just don't have the imagination anymore... old dog, new tricks are hard to do.

My beef with some religious things... this includes the woke... they are just sheep. They do some evil shit and it's just fucked up. They're the ones that actually believe a person doesn't have values unless they adhere to a dogmatic system... I don't understand them. I mean I'm not religious and I'm not going to be a dick just because of the golden rule.

It all will not make sense to me other than finding purpose for oneself... but if it's just a social thing where you can't decide what is right and wrong on your own... yuck.

Atheists are either people who were never introduced to religion from an early age, or, far more commonly, simply care whether or not what they believe is true.

Experience in life.
We can only go in the evidence we have been exposed to.
People on one side scream and yell that the other side cannot see that the ball is blue. But the other side it is red.
Being willing to accept that I have not learned everything and perhaps my vies can change is a better way to live.
Looking and digging for the truth is wise.

We have learned a good leasson this past few years about accepting the first one to speak. Many "conspiracy theories" have now been found much closer to the truth than the "truth" we where told was "science"
ALWAYS cross examine.
This is why we have so many religions and beliefs. Because people are afraid, lazy, or too bogged down in lies to continue to look for truth. Its there. It is always there. Behind that curtain.

Some of us aren't easily convinced that things you can't see and aren't proven scientifically exist.
My stance is if you can't prove it scientifically but rely on bibles as your ''evidence'' go take a hike. You aren't convincing me.
