Medical data is to remain private, and needs to stay that way. The only way government gets involved is if someone's health care is publically funded, such as MEDICARE, MEDICAID, or a state assistance program.

As someone who works in the field of cybersecurity, you'd be surprised how much access governments and private companies have in your lives. They kind of work together to exchange information too. There are laws that prevent them from using it in certain malicious ways like sharing your social security numbers but congress is slowly chipping away at your personal privacy. News flash, it isn't exclusive to any political party either. It's one of the things they agree on.
