Do you believe humility is different from self condemnation?

To me, humility is not self hatred but the willingness to serve and consider the needs and emotions of others and believe in their value and potential and goodness.

I know people who have great self hatred but lack respect and compassion for others, that is not humility, that is wounded ego masking as love and respect.

A very deep question, people have many issues. Childhood experiences shape us, how we were raised and treated. being humble today or having humility is almost rare. Self-condemnation may be a twisted form of pride?

That's a largest part of humility, the rest might be modesty about one's deeds and accomplishments.

Very different - humility is a lack of arrogance, an eagerness to learn and improve and applying those changes knowing that perfection is out of our reach but betterment is constant;

Self-condemnation is punishing yourself, and if that is a state of being, that would indicate that learning and improvement is not occurring, and knowing you’re a Christian, with all respect, isn’t the Holy Spirit the one to condemn, chastising us but offering an avenue for redemption and progression in faith?

Certainly it is. To remain humble when you are experiencing successes is really about not thinking that you are superior to others who are not succeeding right now moreso than thinking badly ofyourself. It is remaining even tempered during success and failure.
