Would you say this dream I had might reflect the reality of things?

I had a dream the reason other people got more popularity than me was that they were trying to glorify themselves while I was trying to glorify God. I made the egotists feel guilty by focusing on God's honour and not my own, so I was refuted and ignored while other people were honoured and celebrated.

I would say yes. Those that choose to learn from Jesus's example choose to serve others & not themselves. I also learned love from him is sacrifice without the expectations of rewards.

Remember who was given dominion over the earth & also he has no wish to reward those that learned from Jesus's example. Conforming is easy, just put on a mask, deceive & the rewards will be great in the short term, at the cost of one's soul.

Eternity means time without end. Few of us have our names writ in the book of life. Trials on this earth are a test. I don't intend to fail. Speak truth & see what happens, evil reviles the spirit of truth for a reason & there WILL be consequences.
