Should schools be less pro God?

Question

ok hear me out in nursery school and middle school we had this super weird thing called assembly where it was mandatory to sing prayers... sigh it was college and a few months at acting school that i realised that it wasn't that important, it wasn't anything for the mental peace as some people claim nor does it bring good luck or shi... just something adults force you to do, and as an atheist that was very upsetting to me.  anyways, im not saying that you shouldn't teach your kids to idol worship and stuff like that, give them religious insights and do storytelling or whatever... that's all good. but kids go to school to study, maybe just commit to studying and not these narcissistic rituals?  im only calling it narcissistic because we had special students to monitor if we were praying properly or not.

I don't think calling that "pro God" makes sense, or that forbidding it makes you "anti-God". I believe a public school doesn't NEED to have a stance on that, other than "talk to your parents".

The problem with mandatory prayer in a public school is not just the idea of should it be done or not, but if you're going to do it, which prayers do you say from which persuasion? If you answer a generic prayer, then what if you offend a particular persuasion? I don't see the need to do that on any level in any public school. If you want to give kids quiet time to do as they wish, that's fine. If they want to pray during that time, they can do that silently within themselves, without any spectacle or drawing of attention. That's something a parent can teach their kid, if they so choose.

Yes. Schools should not have god/God/spirituality in them unless the school itself is specifically religious or perhaps it's a university and there's a religious studies department, or an ethics class incorporates it. Otherwise, teach life skills and stuff that people need to use to live.

No public school around here ever sang prayers, was that a private, charter or religious school?

Ofc, I'm not in India either... here if they tried to make you sing prayers it would be illegal in public schools. In fact the only way they could even have prayers at graduations is if a student offered it as their speech at graduation.

If it’s not a specifically a religious school, religion does not belong in the subjects.

Over here it's much less a problem.
As it already is unless you go to a religious school. One of my primary schools was sadly. But no other school and esspacilly not highschools cared about teaching god.
Re was more about culture or politics and you could criticise as much as you wanted.

I personally believe God should be honored and worshipped everywhere including government and schools.

But I also understand some people have different religions, are atheists and don't want nothing to do with God.

Public schools aren't for religions because many people that attend simply don't believe in God, their parents don't want their kids being taught about God and you have to respect that.

As for me and my house we will worship and honor the Lord Jesus Christ.

Everyone else, that's their business.

That old school of yours sounds terrible did they even teach evolution properly? Anyways less always less only talk about if your learning about other cultures like I did which was one of the first steps that lead me to disbelieve

I remember as a kid in elementary school we had a moment of prayer and the pledge of alliance. Though that was the 90's and in college well at least one of my professors made us say the pledge of the alliance everytime for extra credit. I don't think schools should force religion on children unless it's a religious school like Catholic or Christian.

Yes. It's arguably indoctrination. There should be a separation of government and religion. That's not to say you can't ever say God or anything religious, just that it shouldn't be incorporated into the school's practices or curriculum.

At least for public schools. Private schools can do whatever they want, within reason.

I'm in India and I've never had a single religion or god related class in school ever. That stuff shouldn't be in school classes. Teach that to your kids at home. School is for formal education.

Yes, they should in šā’allāh. Forcing pupils to stand up to the ruddy Pledge of Allegiance (hand over heart, recite the words which contain ‘under G-d,’ and state bloody political party) should be a crime.

However, if a pupil is or wants to be pious, they should be allowed to. There is freedom of religion.

Did you go to private school? Or school outside of the US? Because in my public schooling God was only mentioned during the pledge of allegiance.
