I side with Descartes. It's kind of irrelevant in practice, though, because assuming that the world is real produces predictable outcomes that seem to have very real consequences for how I feel.

Yeah, but it is a rare thing for human beings to experience. To be truthful is to say something objectively and without influence of emotion or opinion; something which will always be impossible as a human.
