The difference is quite large.

Doomsday is the final day before Gods judgement. Whereas the apocalypse is the months and years leading up to that Final Day.

apocalypse literally means "revelation" thus the title of the last book in most English versions of the Bible. It is usually used to describe everything leading up to doomsday
