What does it mean to follow the Bible?

I often see and hear people say that Christians "don't follow the Bible".

Us Catholics are often accused of not following the Bible by some Protestants and Evangelicals, who are themselves sometimes so accused by some atheists and agnostics.

So with that said, what does it mean to follow the Bible?

1, Christians "don't follow the Bible" meaning old testament because we were freed from it see my mytake for sources.

2, catholics , have leaders that do not have "one wife" as assigned in book timothy in their own catholic bible. the system of leaders cardinals not in bible but external. did jesus ever say cardinals should appoint pope etc? nope.

follow bible: to stop doing old testament, follow to have leaders married monogamy. follow the correct faith most important one. follow the treatment of people as paul described very lengthily. that is a good start.

God doesn't even follow his own word, the man is a deceiver and a betrayer lol how could he expect the people to follow the Bible were nit at all perfect but God says "I am perfect" while he dies nothing for his followers lol the holy Bible is a joke. Just read the story of JOB (ayub) disgusting behaviour and pain infliction.

For something he already knows. Kicked Satan out of heaven for questioning him but told Moses to stand up to dictators? But God himself is a dictator lol big time joke everything about him. I use to be a follower but no more.

you ask, how could he expect the people to follow the Bible, good start that is why he sent jesus. he knows we will fall fall no i, but we still need to try and have correct faith.

to fu, content jesus, where did you read that version? 1, not forsaken because he and jesus planned to overcome death as specified in book john several times. 2 not everybody called him crazy. pilate called him innocent. the jew priests called him fake king. his followers called him a prophet or messiah nobody called him crazy. 3 god ignored? when jesus cried out he said "take this cup but only by your will" he knew the plan. if we ask forgiveness he forgives not ignores. if we ask for stuff he ignores because god is not an A. T. M. especially when we ask for more than daily bread. 4, makes us suffer? because humans injected sin into the world.

It means you follow what your holy book demands of its followers. If it says disobedient children should be stoned to death, you chuck rocks at the kids until they die. If it says you cannot eat shellfish or fused hoofed animals, you don't eat em. You don't cherry pick things just to avoid issues or legal problems. My religion mandates that we kill tyrants who seek to remove our individual rights, and if someone did, I will. But most Christians still eat shellfish, or lie, or cheat etc. Because it's merely convenient to ignore their holy book

to agape, content rocks, maybe you are a son of israel? but the old testament was not universal for everyone, just israelites. 2, the book itself defined doing by reading in deuteronomy "it is not far but near in your mouth to do" the doing is by mouth not action including chuck rocks in same book deuteronomy. 3, about hoof the grammar is future not a command grammar. almost nothing in bible is in command grammar so not command, even for israelite family except a few. and further from non-jew. 4, christians eat shell fish because... they are not the children of israel.5, to say "most christian cheat" is an accusation on a group, not just slander but libelous slander of a group. they do not ignore but study both parts. previous covenant and new testament.

I really have no idea. The Bible covers so many topics, in different ways, depending what part of the Bible you're talking about. Some people say they "follow the Bible" but I really don't think they know what that means... often, it means they agree with last Sunday's sermon.

I think it means most of us don't read and follow the Bible rather we follow the religious leaders who present things twisted, i observedany of the occasion their words doesn't match or their interpretationa are completely opposite to what is there in the book.🌱

It depends on who you ask. There are some who take every aspect of it literally, and then there are those that take it as a guide to be better people.. You can imagine which group I like better.
