If you consider atheism a religion it is thus:

"No one can live in a whale, therefore it's all crap." Meaning that just because one parable is patently false that none of it could possibly be true.

If you do not consider atheism a religion it is the hypothesis of "either God is real or he is not." As espoused by CS Lewis

There are something like 200 Christian sects each one claiming that they are the ONLY path to God, further there are several thousand gods who have been worshipped by man, many who also have multiple sects. It is dot a simple dichotomy, if we accept that the God if Abraham is the "one true God" which in itself is not a certainty. You would still have Christian, Muslim and Jewish faiths as possible paths to the divine. If you accept Christianity as the correct path (again not a certainty). Then you have the Catholic and Orthodox branches (not to mention the sects that were wiped out Cathars, Gnostics, etc), if you then accept that the Catholic faith was the correct path, and was purified by Luther and the Protestants. Etc eic etc...

It's ok to hate anyone in the lgbtq community because that's a sin.

Even though their religion teaches love above anything else but its ok to hate gays and lesbians, that gets a pass. Even if gay people love each other dearly and want to get married and just live their lives then it still doesn't matter they should be hated and shunned.

Jesus equals love but you can hate people who are different than you.

I see your point. Many people in the church call themselves Christians, but are not acting very Christian. If you were to really be a Christian, you would be trying to be more like christ. The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself. There is no exceptions to the verse. I myself as a christian honestly do not think the LGBT stuff is right but God tells me to love everyone no matter who they are.

There is one user on the site here who uses religion as a means for everything in her life and her actions which not only come off as hypocritical to what God teaches, but the religion stance has no bearing or place in it or should be used as an excuse for certain behaviors.
