Ok so the answer is *drum roll* BOTH! lol yup the world will last forever and not forever according to the bible: Ecclesiasters 1:4 "Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever."

And
2 Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

In the book of revelations it talks about the final battle between darkness and holiness. The demons will be slain and those who believe in and worship God will be taken to the new holy city on the new Earth. In which there will be no more death, or disease, no more pain or anguish.

The Earth as we know it currently won't always exist. The bible is pretty clear that a NEW earth will be formed all without the sin of mankind.

@Still-alive Revelation 21, talks about the new Earth. It's called the redeemed earth because it will be free from all sin.

the hebrew of eccl. there doesn't mean forever. it means the world stands a long time. compare exodus 21 and psalms 145, so no conflict with peter. the world will get destroyed but a new one will replace it.
