Just a lie? I had pork countless of times and nothing ever happened to me
Most animals eat their own shit. Pigs, especially wild pigs sorts are often affected by Trichinosis parasites, which are deadly for humans. This was big problem in times without freezers and microscopes, because under cooked meat or meat that wasn't frozen can infect people. Freezing below -20C and seasoning with lot of salt makes wild pig meat edible. In middle east -20C are rare and salt was expensive before industrial revolution, that's why eating pigs is forbidden by Muslims and Jews. In Europe there are many methods to check if a pig was infected with Trichinosis. One of them is cutting the pig under its 'arm pits' hanging it without guts and waiting few days until maggots appear. Maggots appear only in cuts of pigs without Trichinosis. This is how earlier hunters knew meat is secure to consume.
Today is wild pig meat mostly deep frozen and checked under microscope. Farm pigs have practically never Trichinosis due separation of small carnivores like foxes or wild cats.

From what I know, it's more of Muslims seeing pigs as unclean soul wise, because they eat basically everything.
That's the first I heard this reason 🤔.
Pigs have parasites that can cause painful diseases.
And we don't eat pork because God forbid it. In times of urgency we can eat it though but it is highly discouraged
Today medicine has advanced a little and fewer people get sick from eating pork, yet pork is still the meat that transmits the most diseases.

People have gotten tapeworms from eating pork.. its a dirty animal and because it has a similar anatomical structure and function of the cardiovascular system, the gastrointestinal tract, and the pancreas are very similar to humans so diseases and other things can easily transfer from them to us..
It's amusing that the moron who claims that Middle Eastern people avoided consuming pork before the Industrial Revolution due to the expense of salt, believes that Europe was flourishing economically at that point in history.
Pigs and humans have more in common than any other two animals…some say that long ago a group of humans turned against god and for that they were cursed…and became pigs
No, it's just forbidden in our religion.
