Is this brand a sin?

Would it be considered a sin?
Well... I’m no Catholic priest but technically it would be a venial sin—not a cardinal sin.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
”One commits venial sin when, in a less serious matter, he does not observe the standard prescribed by the moral law, or when he disobeys the moral law in a grave matter, but without full knowledge or without complete consent.”
You were drunk, you weren’t fully aware of what you were doing or it’s consequences, you didn’t break a Commandment (murder, theft, adultery etc.) nor did you commit one of the 7 Deadly Sins: greed, gluttony, envy, wrath, pride, sloth, lust.
However, you did break one of the laws of Moses, from the Book of Leviticus:
“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.” -Lev. 19:28.
This is the Biblical law that forbids tattooing, branding, and also self-harm through cutting.
You did that. You printed a mark upon your body.
No, it doesn’t mean you’re going to Hell, nor does it mean people with tattoos will go to Hell. The Lord God is a forgiving God, and He knows what are the greater sins in one’s life and will judge us all in His infinite wisdom.
So be of good cheer. Let the mark be a reminder of the event, just like how someone has a scar from a football game or from an accident or event. Things happen, and sometimes our scars are there to remind us of what happened, what went wrong, and also what went right.
too indirect. the catechism did not list burn scars. the bible law was TO israelites, not to anyone else. and a burn doesn't have "writing" so not a sin even for a jew.
@strateguy632 It’s a printed mark on his body. Your opinion is worthless because I know you to be a godless atheist who hates Christians. So uh, piss off.
And moron, the first five books of the Bible are the exact same as the Jewish Torah. Jesus and the prophets spoke again and again about following the laws of Moses, and you to be perfectly honest don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
@strateguy632 Ugh. I just noticed you’re a filthy yid. No wonder you’re such a twat. Hopefully you’ll do something selfless and go defend Israel, but uh, your people aren’t known for that, are they?
I don't know about a sin but it's not good, you are hurting yourself which is against the word of God but sounds like you let an intrusive thought win.
Despite being drunk, didn't you feel burned getting branded?
That must have hurt.
Nah, brands are easier than tattoos. A lot quicker and don’t hurt as bad. I’ve tattooed myself twice on my legs and that hurt way more than the brand
