No, and its mankind, not humankind. God Created man in his image. Humans were basically already immortal, till Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the fruit of knowledge. Only those who are with Jesus will not know death.

When people are talking about it, they mean "longevity" which is adding a few more cognitive years to their existence.

No, because immortality doesn't exist in this universe. Even if you found a way to prevent ageing (which is arguably impossible) you still couldn't outlive your environment.
