No, I’m not. I was brought up Catholic but started becoming introspective around 12/13. With my reasoning, I decided it was impossible for god or any higher being to exist, and religion was just an organization for community and social control.
When I was 15/16, if someone asked if I was religious, I would say I was spiritual. Though ignorant, I believed in universal truths that all religions focused on, and how humankind is inherently connected. I researched a little into Buddhism and Hinduism and liked those schools of thought, if not literally then as a concept. It was more next-level, whereas my Catholic upbringing was very stringent and guilt-focused. Buddhism is more holistic, about doing the right thing but also becoming the right kind of person.
I simply tell people nowadays that I’m not religious. I feel it’s less insulting to say that while also shutting down a possible attempt to get me to go to church.
I think organized religion can be beneficial for others, but if I was in one I would be living a lie. I have decided that in the future, my kids/family will do some kind of charitable work on Sundays to put the values of religion into practice thorough our actions and make a rewarding routine. Like volunteering at an animal shelter or soup kitchen, or visiting people at a nursing home.

"decided" key word not "proved impossible". meanwhile genius Einstein criticized "science without religion" and Einstein was not delusional.

    nope, not at all

the ironic thing is that im getting confirmed at our church next September

I've actually wanted to tell my parents about my thoughts, but im in too deep at this point. might as well just ride it out

plus, simply use logic, and you'll find why religion doesn't really work

A: there´s multiple religions, with different ideas of what and who god is

    they can't all be right

B: things in the bible (like adam and eve) have been proven wrong by science and evolution

and finally: god (and gods) was/were created a long time ago to explain things humans didn't understand

i dont get how people still believe in them

Yes (Irish Catholic), but not in a very strict fashion. I figure if I, perhaps a perceptive human, but a human nonetheless, can see past people's quirks and foibles and limits to see what they're trying to a do or what they mean, then surely an omniscient god can do far better at it.

Love 'em all and let God sort 'em out.

Raised Catholic. Not religious anymore, for many years, dabbled with some Anglican/Episcopalian and that in the past, astrology, horoscopes however nowadays I just lightly like my own personal deity beliefs in a personal solo deity emphasis solo deity personally, that is like this: 😈

Nope. I'm not religious and don't have any reason to believe in supernatural beings. My spirituality has to do with reverence, awe and gratitude for nature and all creation.

The definition of "religious" can be interpreted differently from one person to the next. My religion is Bahai, I attend occasional holiday events and pray almost daily.

I am religious, that's why I will not sign up to one of the existing ones.
I see Jesus as my authorized teacher, and God as the one pulling all strings.
Middle men (or women) are suspicious to me - even if they are well-meaning.

Evolution doesn't claim humans were born from apes. Religious nationalists just say that's what evolution says because they get mad when it gets pointed out they can't do any of the magic they lay claim to.

@strateguy632 Trying too hard to divine meaning from words chosen nearly at random by people long dead is a religious thing. The theory of evolution does not claim that humans came from apes - rather, that they share common ancestors.

But this information is not only freely available but also widely known. There is almost no chance this is the first opportunity you've had to correct your misunderstanding. This suggests you are misunderstanding on purpose. So, no matter what I say you're going to continue to cling to your misunderstanding. And so there is no longer a possibility of this conversation being productive.

Where is the evidence it was all imagination? I know a few people who experienced a ghost or whose children experienced a ghost. The child one was particularly interesting, the child described a man in a raincoat who wanted to go and play a specific sport. So he told his dad (My manager) about the man. Turns out it was my manager's own grandpa who had past away long ago. The child never saw a picture and didn't know about him at all yet got all the details correct.

Its stuff like that where it goes beyond something he could have imagined. I'm personally not capable of observing them, and I did notice that the ones who could were either very young or autistic. But considering they all share similar experiences and none of them knew each other I find it credible.

@sawno that's a probability, its a maths its numbers, and superstition, lot of people have been lost completely alone in the jungle for days if there would be anything super natural either they would never make it out or they would have seen it
Logically a lot of buildings that are built over the land was once a graveyard and all, people live their normally, people think they saw something then they realise its not there, that Is just a error of the brain not a reality
There is no evidence not even the slightest evidence that anything that is dead exists in any form
We are all biological creatures so are the birds animals and all, but we made heaven and hell there is no ant hell no one ever wrote about it there is no sparrow heaven no one ever wrote about it
We humans have a misunderstanding that we are something special we are not
When we compare ourself to other beings we are the weaker species
Immortal jelly fish and bugs who go into hibernation and can live for way longer that their lifespan is common. Queen bee genetically engineers every bee who has to be soldier who has to be worker
We just can't face the fact that we are just another biological creation. Just as when a dog dies there is nothing after
When a human dies there is nothing after
