I can't imagine what other alternatives there are. On the other hand, it seems the most likely scenario is an experience -whether conscious or not I have no idea- of returning to the state before you were ever conceived.

As far as an ego surviving, that sense of of that seems to be composed of accumulated memories of our lives. The consciousness of you "you" surviving is impossible. It is something that is probably for the best as all of our suffering seems to be the result of this small piece of consciousness. As far as traditional definitions like Heaven or hell, they seem pretty absurd to me

I find a coping mechanism (different from the religious obsessed) - serves me well. The thought of a hallucination when I'm in the void someday between that aka unconsciousness lol it's like how you know daydreams exist or dreams exist. That's probably the afterlife lol - the brain thinking eternity when they get knocked out from either some incident or a fatal stroke heart in the sleep or collapse and what seems like seconds before the last technical brain activity is an eternity lol internally get it? Or it's all hogwash crap 😋😋😁 still, a coping mechanism serves me well, no advice. Each to their own

I just don't rely on a religious aspects aka "a belief in god" that's not to say I can't for giggles say "oh hooray for Satan" lol 😆😆😆🤣

Well I'm a Christian and I have that God's word is good. But I think that's normal to have doubts I heard that even mother Theresa said in her journal she kept that she had doubts. Faith is not a constant.

But I'll tell you how I deal with it. 1. You're not stopping the clock. To quote the movie Dead Poet's Society, "one of these days you're going to stop breathing, turn cold, and die"

2. I have to believe there is more to this then this plane of existence. Because I know too many good people who died too soon. I REFUSE to believe it was for nothing. I have to believe thier and thier sacrifices was not for nothing.

For your current consciousness, yes. It's not really THAT scary though. If you think back to the person you were at age 5, that "you" is in pretty much every sense dead. There is nothing about that kid that's around today. What you want today is totally different, your problems are totally different, your interests are totally different. That guy/girl is GONE. Everything is like that. Death is just a sudden ending of wherever your at at the time you die. Which--if you die of old age--is probably nowhere related to where you are today anyway. So "you" will already be dead before your body goes.

I suspect that we just die like every other creature. There is no reason to believe otherwise. But nobody knows for sure.

Maybe we're just lucky to experience being alive. I've had a wondrous time so far. I didn't waste my life waiting for another one.
