Trending & News You have multiple documents that are 700 to 1000 years older than Jesus in the flesh that spoke about his arrival, life, and death before it even happened. They are consistent with one another. They are also independent sources. So in order to explain that away, you either have to believe a group of people can see through time and tell you the future which is a neat trick, that a God can do that and shared that information with select people whom act as prophets for the masses, or that there is a vast conspiracy across the entire world by evil actors to deceive you into believing in a peaceful loving good person. Is it in the interest of evil to promote good? Do you think the house of Israel can see through time? How do you rationalize it in your head?
Do you believe in time travel? Do you think the house of Israel has a time machine and went back in time after observing events and then wrote about them on old parchment that can be carbon dated today predating the arrival of Jesus? Surely you have some sort of fantastical belief that can explain how something miraculous like that can happen.
I think the bible is a work of art. it makes people feel things. and if you stare at it long enough while fasted, isolated and sleep deprived, you'll start hallucinating things and claim it says things it doesn't. I think the people who claimed some of those obscure old testament verses were about Jesus were fasting a bit too long for their own good.
Yet people of average intelligence or greater are able to make these connections to Jesus all the time even when they aren't Christians. You can blindly survey people on the street and they make the connection to Jesus all on their own in many different verses even when they are Jews and Muslims and often enough they attribute the text to the new testament when they are in fact from the old testament. I've seen it too many times... It's crystal clear. Without that clarity, Israelites in the time of Jesus would not of been able to make the connections to Jesus in the first place, after all they didn't have a new testament at the time to educate them. Without that absolute clarity, Christianity would have never even started. The problem for you though is that the people of Israel who understood the Tanakh did make those connections to Messiah and thus Christianity grew into the largest religion in the world because it was so clear. Israel understood what was said in Isaiah 53. Israel understood what David said in Psalm 22. Israel understood what Moses said in Genesis 3:15. Israel understood Zechariah 12:10 and there are many more examples. There are reasons Jesus had a large following of true believers in Judah... Even Jesus confirms these connections after his resurrection. You can see that in Luke 24:44 for example
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
So the real question is, why can't you make these connects when people of average intelligence or greater can manage it? Are you mildly retarded or just ignorant?
If water was never wet, would you still believe science?
Myths are better than perceived facts because they teach morality without deception. A Myth openly admits it's a Myth but asks you to think about the story. The bible demands you accept it's stories as true without evidence.
when you tell kids they'll go to hell for not believing, it's surprising what you can get them to believe in, for a lifetime

The Bible mostly is pre Christion, plus a number of personal opinions from Paul and friends.
I don't see where this is relevant for my friendship with Jesus.
