Like I believe in God and have nothing against people who are into astrology, tarot cards, the sun, the moon etc but it’s when they’re too into God or those things that it becomes almost psychotic. Like, they call everything demonic. They overanalyze common/normal things and say you’re going to hell if you participate in those common things. They feel superior or call theirselves “Chosen” ones. They make everything deeper than what it is. I even read an article about a woman who killed her entire family because of the solar eclipse and the ones who say things like “God put this in my spirit.” Or “God told me.” And it’s always something that you can clearly tell they made up in their head.

1 yIf you described God & religion to a young adult who had NO experience with those ideas, that person WOULD CORRECTLY suspect a mental disorder.
We're they animated, zealous and prosthelyzing said religion they would be correctly be presumed to have a mental disorder that requires medical intervention.
No proof. All faith. In fact prayer / meditation light up a brains MRI scan for creativity & calm like the 4th of July - logic & reason are as dark as a North Korean night.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yNo, I think some people get saved and become fanaticized. I think some don't hear, but never fully understand Jesus's message. It's LOVE! Love means as a Christian we are here to facilitate others relationship with God if we can. It's not our job to judge them. NO ONE is deserving of Heaven. It is only God's grace that allows us to recieve it. I think some Christians forget that.
I might of thought like you when I was younger. Now I only look at it as if they're doing God's will I'm not going to judge how the feel personally about it. That's between them and God.

Yes and I think churches are perhaps the only place where such people can find a sense of community and not being abused for their misfortune,,,
I'm on a bible study course myself, and there are quite a few dysfunctional people in the congregation,,,
20 ReplySome people with illnesses like schizophrenia do have religious delusions. Some hear voices they believe are from supernatural origins such as angels. Others with manic psychosis may believe they are Jesus or other religious figures. But most religious people are simply sincere and devout.

Yes but sincere and devout to a delusion!

u 1 yA religious obsession or preoccupation is frequently seen in decompensated paranoid schizophrenics, but not all religious zealots are schizophrenics.

Asker1 ySee, you’re the only comment who gets where I’m coming from. All the other comments are insinuating I hate God and I’m being judge-mental when I’m literal only questioning what I have seen. I believe in God. I believe everyone should be treated equally. I believe no one is superior to another because to me and depending on what you believe in personally, Jesus was the closest example we have to what perfection is but at the same time I don’t demonize everything, I don’t condemn people to hell just because they listen to “secular” music, smoke weed or do any kind of drug. Or because someone is having sex and not married: I don’t think God verbally talks to me or gives me visions and that’s why I said some could be mentally ill because to me that goes beyond just believing in a higher being.
Asker1 yTo me, believing in God is just that. You believe, you gracefully change as you mature spiritually and physically which changes certain things you do or no longer do and that’s it. I don’t think it’s any deeper than that.

Christians, like everyone else, are nor perfect and one of the more obvious imperfections is their judgmental nature. . . but that doesn't make them lesser Christians. We all need some understanding.
Asker1 yThat’s true. I think Christians can be quick to call someone else judgmental while being judgmental themselves just by calling someone else that and not even just Christians, just us humans in general. So, it’s like you said, we all just are learning and understanding. No one’s perfect but my question was only out of curiosity. Not judgement but if it came off that way it wasn’t my intentions.
- 1 y
I didn't read your question as being critical or judgmental.
Asker1 yThere’s this guy on YouTube who makes videos like “Signs someone is a demon.” “Signs God is warning you about something.” “Witchcraft against Chosen ones.” he even made a video about being put away into a mental institution and blamed it on being different, chosen and non worldly and the scary part is he has so many subscribers/followers. It’s crazy how it’s truth to what I’m saying but people will assume I’m criticizing.

Even dawkins in book god delusion wrote god is possible... which means delusion doesn't include faith so is not a delusion. Just a title to fool people to buy his book. Buyer beware.

No matter what you say these people won't ever accept God, they will have to learn the hard way, which is in a near death experience, the chances of this person being someone I've already communicated with are high considering this community isn't very big and if hell is real, no lack of evidence of a god will save them, they think Christians want to get in people's business and tell them what to do, they think christians want to be insulted, spit on, assaulted and hated on for spreading the gospel but have no idea that these people are doing it to save them... not themselves since themselves are already saved, personally I'm done with these warp minded ungrateful souls on this, I'll take a janitor spot in heaven to not have to deal with these ungrateful people, at the end, death is inevitable and I have more to gain than lose at this point, I understand if they don't want to believe but I think they should at least show some respect as a decent human being.

The cognitive dissonance is astounding!!! Read what you wrote!!!
"they think Christians want to get in people's business and tell them what to do, they think christians want to be insulted, spit on, assaulted and hated on for spreading the gospel but have no idea that these people are doing it to save them... not themselves since themselves are already saved... they don't want to believe but I think they should at least show some respect as a decent human being."
You want us to be "decent human beings" while you "get in peoples business" to "spread the Gospel" out of your concern to "save us"?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
YOU are exactly the reason that increasing numbers of people have had ENOUGH of your God damn paternalism in service to an imaginary psychopath. Let us prey indeed. - 1 y
It depends how that information is spread, I don't pressure anyone, I just say what I believe, i know there's lots of fake christians out there that threaten with hell, i dont threaten with hell, i just say how to prevent it, if you want to ignore it then be my guest but if judgement day is real, you'll have no excuse, its that simple, if salvation is real then your own decisions doomed you, we can sit here and argue all day and what if for hours but if my what ifs are true then your hell is gonna be far worse than mine if your what ifs are true.
- 1 y
If your what ifs are true, I'll die and disappear into nothingness and won't regret believing in a god cause I'm dead and turned to nothing, I don't think you can say the same when it comes to my what ifs and tbh the ways to avoid it aren't hard, you can make whatever choice you want with what you believe and how you spend your time but death will be inevitable, thats the known fact we we can both agree on and when that time comes, I doubt you'll be thinking of how we evolved from monkeys, personally it's better to be prepared in my opinion and the truth is that no matter what you choose, my life and soul won't be effected, I'm telling you all this for you, not me weither you wanna accept it and believe it is on you, thats how its been for everyone, what i wonder is why people get so annoyed or frustrated at others peoples believes if they truly dont believe, if we are the crazy ones then why you mad?
- 1 y
I can tell you why I get in people's business and I have a question I expect to be answered after, my reasons are simple, because a part of my beliefs and the beliefs of these people that get in people's business, a part of our believes is that we have to spread the beliefs to other so they can find the same love and peace as we do, there's also a part of me that finds a satisfaction in seeing people grow faith and have their whole lives change because of that decision and actually find some happiness, I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with that, now my question to you is why do atheists have so much aggression towards believers, then these same athiests go around and say that believers should respect other peoples lack of faith, and im sorry to break it to you but bringing up the same topic isn't a disrespect to a persons lack of faith, its only an act with the intentions to pursuade the other individual, which then leads to the truth on who really disrespects others believes when these same athiests are the ones to aggressively insult and disrespect not only the believer but insults their whole religion, then that only leads to me wondering on where all the aggression comes from if they dont believe, is it cause they want to not believe but deep down can't get away from what those choices can lead too if they are incorrect? Do believers accidentally constantly remind them of the loss they will go through if the choice they are making is the wrong one? Cause I believe and when others don't believe, my first reaction isn't to react with aggression or hate towards their lack of faith.
I'll be awaiting an answer.
