I am more concerned with the fake Christians around. Displaying the cross, babbling about values and morals and going to church, yet behaving the absolute worst at the drop of a hat. @Darklydarkened Christ means Messiah. Jesus was the savior of the Jews and Gentiles, his own rejected him and killed him for claiming to be the Great I AM. I Am is God, as God is the creator of everything that exists. All emotions are of him. Every material thing in existence. Christianity was started by his Apostles after his ascension into Heaven, Paul being the one to push it further. So Christians believe Jesus to be the prophesized Savior of the Jewish people. Jews were hoping they would get a mass murder to slay all their foes.

So the whole thing is contradictory, saviour of Jews probably didn't give a damn about Angls or saxons but now is believed to be the saviour of it all

And considering that, some scholars are reasonably sure that gospels are just retellings of Homeric Epics, particularly Odysseaus' epics, with Jesus as main character, it becomes increasingly weird

It's suppose to be a symbolism of Jesus sacrifice, he died for our sins which created salvation, it's a symbol to that sacrifice that saved humanity from sin and destruction

It did not create salvation it was a permanent reconciliation to our Heavenly Father. Plenty were saved by God before Christ after Christ there is no path to God but through Jesus. If you heard of him and reject you made your own bed if you haven't but live in a way that honors God he may grant salvation
