Is this religiously appropriate?

Hello friends, I am not a Christian, my religion was Islam before. But now I don't have a religion. So I don't know anything about Christianity and that's why I'm asking this question. I am in love with a catholic boy. And I don't know, is it okay for a haven't religion person to marry a Christian? So purely in terms of religion?

Well, I am currently engaged to a christian and I am not one. I am Hindu, although not very religious. It is about accepting their beliefs and both coming to an understanding of how religious things will be handled.

In our case, I celebrate holidays and traditions that he does because of his religion. He does the same for me. So, we have a mix of things that we both celebrate for each other just out of respect. I looked at it as an adventure to learn about his religion and traditions.

You have to have a positive attitude (both of you) and understand that things will come up and how you will both be respectful and handle those things. Another example is that because we will marry back in his hometown in Australia, we will have a christian ceremony.

So, there was a lot for me to learn about. But, it was a compromise I was willing to make and it was out of respect of my partner that I agreed. Like anything in a relationship, it is give and take.

It depends on how devout he is. Catholics who actually care that they are Catholics avoid marrying people who are non-catholic, but there are a lot of people who just say that their Catholic and don't actually care about being Catholic and who will marry anyone.

It depends on the denomination so to say the part of Christianity you´re looking at and sorry to say but in Catholicism is a big deal because marriage in Catholicism is holy and is therefore not to be taken lightly as for example this part of Christianity forbids divorces.

Is it culturally acceptable? Yes. Most people today don't care.

Is it religiously acceptable? Let me put it this way. The Catholic Church currently permits Catholics to date, court, and marry non-Catholics and non-Christians. However , it should still not be done.

We are commanded to marry equally yoked.. which means both must be Catholics

Actually, there is basically no problem for me, children can believe christianity. In an article I just read, it was written that there would be no harmony without the same religion spiritually. So in that case I should be a Christian? 🤔

Well, the Catholic church sees it as invalid, but who cares, it's the 21st century. If he's extremely religious and doesn't want to marry you because you are not a Christian, just forget him, he loves his imaginary friend more than you!

Nope. You don't have to be Catholic to marry one. You do need express permission from the Bishop to be married in the Church though but yeah.
