All the parents I know who were gentle and kind to their kids end up with rich and good looking kids with good personalities.

All the parents I know who were cruel and rude to their kids end up with poor kids with serious personality issues.

If I was not religious, I would be dead, or in jail or living in a homeless shelter and addicted to drugs.

My religion was responsible for every good thing I ever received and every bad thing I ever avoided.

I think that if a kid is treated cruelly by their parents they are the ones to become bullies. As a rule most bullies end up alienated by society but sometimes they end up really wealthy.

Yeah, I believe in most cases it does lead to poverty, even if in some cases there are people who have a strong will and use their terrible past to fuel their drive for success..
