I'm impressed by all the people on here that are worried about an individual here or there. Taking a little bit of advantage but are completely unconcerned about large corporations taking huge advantage.

That's the Republican way unfortunately. These people want to make getting a job harder in an already troubled economy. If they're upset that so many people don't want to go to work now, they're going to see record numbers if they get their wish in Congress.

The Republican agenda is largely focused on trying to reverse democratic progress, even if that means hurting poor people in the process, including even their own voters in poor Conservative states. I agree with Republicans on a few of their ideas, but overall they are a party with a Nazi-like focus, no vision for a diversifying world, still backwards thinking, and wanting to take money away from people to put into defense, guns, oil companies, and their own pockets.

I’m no leftist, but the mainstream conservatives persistently fail to understand that the economy and culture are severely degraded and many people have no hope of self-sufficiency. The US has flooded the place with cheap labor, crushed job-creating small businesses with regulations and covid policies that favored global corporations, and incentivized the offshoring of industry and jobs, while massively printing money and pursuing foreign policies that are causing dedollarization. What do they expect people to do?

We had sa governor who said that if you give out dollar bills you will have people lined up all around the block wanting to get some.

Democrats use these programs to buy votes. Giving more welfare creates more welfare recipients. They have more kids so they get more benefits. Why do you think democrat run cities are so messed up?

Making some work requirements provides some accountability for the benefit instead of just a free handout. It also shows proper administration of tax dollars.

it's probably about cost control and motivation. There are some people milking the system, some of them are on this web site. they need to find work instead of live off the govt.

as well, some poor people are not getting the care they need to get better and get their life back. system is a mess. but just handing out money forever is a bad idea as well.

I'd need a clear analysis of the "system" and how screwed up it is to figure out what right and wrong is. Corporations should have a minimum tax.

It's all a out politics. The hurting or helping the poor doesn't come into it just the next election. He's telling working and middle class voters that the reason they suffering is because all these people are getting medicad federal assistance.
So he's going to make it easier by letting private corporations involved in these programmes be able to get the same money while providing less and providing corporations cheap practically free labor which in turn

... which in turn reduces the number of available jobs out there. They did something like this in texas when Bush Jr was governor where unemployed folks were put on buses and bused to work for their welfare as basically free labor for corporations, of course they had no employee rights.
The left are no better either, most of the social programmes they have are not about helping the poor but about moving taxpayer money into the hands of corporations in the guise of socialism. Obamacare for instance was the most capitalist idea I ever saw.

So, people have to get up and do something for their handouts? The horror! I'm not sure what the proposed requirements are here, but I've seen a similar program in my state for those that receive cash assistance. They are just required to volunteer for a couple hours a week. That's not a lot to ask from someone that's perfectly able bodied.

Your update stated that people on here were concerned about individuals but not corporations taking advantage. I don't see where corporations even came up on this question, so you brought it up. I guess I'd like to know how you know anyone feels that way.

Most would welcome an opportunity to earn their keep, so to speak, I'm in UK and the benefit system does not help the truly vulnerable, only people who know how to work the system and fake/exagerrate their problems,,,
