Are highly religious people actually the most evil people?

I have witnessed and experienced some awful things by people who are devoted Churchgoers and say they live by Gods ways. I am not saying everybody is this way, but that these highly devoted people are more likely to not be who they seem, rather than casual churchgoers that aren’t so extreme in their beliefs.
Some of these people frequently cheat on spouses, steal, have raped minors, abuse family members, take drugs, highly racist, and some committed murders and are in jail. Yet they swear God is great and he loves his children and we are all forgiven for our sins and go to church every week, read the Bible, and have crosses in their home.
To me, this seems like a mask to excuse their terrible acts to humanity and make them seem like they are to be worshipped like it protects them for being awful people.

After my terrible experiences I no longer go to Church unless it’s an event for family I am invited to. I feel like my own beliefs are better when nobody is pushing them on me and shunning me if I disagree.

I mean I would just recommend certain info that’s shared and the music. Not mingling with the people.

But I think if you have good boundaries and you know your rights lol you should be okay.

The thing about church is ANYONE is allowed to go anyone. So who will fill the building? People. People from outside. The people you see outside are the same ones who fill the church building. Except these people may or may not believe in god related things. A lot of them still have issues like anyone and the only way to fix that range of issues is via motivational speakers/ therapy, or any part of the general spiritual message and practice of Christianity that the people feel can apply to themselves/ their lives.

if anyone thought they were evil they probably came from that lifestyle/ upbringing exposed to that lifestyle. A lot of people who are non Christian are not better in morals or actions than Christians. I think it varies from individual to individual. Their opinions (the Christian’s) are just differently formed than the alternative (s). And how they treat others is gonna be on their own mindset. If they’re mentally unhealthy or so, then that will show in how they treat and/or respond to others.

If any person assaults or attempts to do so to you- Christian or not- they will have to face legal consequences/responses. Whether god exists or not. I don’t think a guard should be fully let down with a person who says they’re a Christian. They’re a person with a belief at the end of the day not a parent or parent figure. 🤷‍♀️

They’re someone with a particular belief, not god himself. Treat them as you would anyone else. Meeting someone at an event or so. 🤷‍♀️

That’s just how I see it.

Also anyone can claim to be anything. The proof is in their actions. Someone can say they will never lie but if they lie then they’re a liar. 🤷‍♀️

I'm an atheist who grew up in one of the bluest states in the US. I moved to one of the reddest states for college and never went back. The community I live in is very religious, and one of the biggest reasons I stayed is because of the people. In general, they are friendlier, kinder, more considerate, more compassionate, more generous, and just higher quality people than the people where I grew up.

So my answer to your question is no, highly religious people are not more evil than others. Are there exceptions? Of course, but that is true in any demographic in society.

What you have seen and experienced is bare "White Western culture," and now understand a little on why others hate Whites and Christians; as much as Whites Christians hate each other.

I forgot to mention this, while some religious people are respected and gain power, others who aren’t may easily fall into doing things for others with evil intent. Like being gullible.

From my first hand experiences by those people. I haven’t met one yet that anyone would think is a good person, they all have done something terrible to other people “in the name of god “ but they only did harm
