He seemed like a decent person, but then not everybody is a Catholic and he's not a world leader as such. The Vatican is a country technically but it's very small and has no real weight. Most Christians aren't even Catholic. Protestantism is better IMHO.

Because he IS a world leader, 1,100,000,000 (1.1×10^9) people chose pope leadership. That is more than... (except china and india) 3 of 5 most populous countries COMBINED... or like MANY countries combined.

Death of popular actors are significant these days, when they are only for entertainment industry as their profession. So why it's not significant about about a religious leader, when religion is the core value of individual and for whatever number of people are catholic. It's not less.

Religion is the core value. The whole life, beliefs revoles around it for the religious people. So is it not significant about the death of the leader who were the leader of so big population and about their whole belief system?

Because he's the (earthly) head of the Church established by Jesus Christ Himself, and a worldwide institute that has been around for 2,000 years. Why wouldn't it be a big deal?

I live in the open, and note that most are Christians in this world, nor Catholics. And yes, as living in the open, I note that the Catholic Church is a bloated institution that distorts the spirit and meaning of Christ's teachings. But some some sheltered pretty girl from Asia doesn't know that, and why the reasons for the Reformation still hold!!
