Pope Francis has died and it's time for the Roman Catholic Church to select a new pope.

The movie Conclave, which was previously nominated for, and won, several awards, is a fictitious (yet realistic) of how a new pope is chosen.

Viewership of the movie shot up 283% immediately following the announcement of Francis' death.

Have you seen Conclave? What did you think of it? If you haven't seen it, do you plan on watching it?

I watched the movie on a recent cruise, late at night. It's an interesting movie, with some interesting plot twists.

Yeah I saw it when it was in theatres cinemas etc 🎥 - I for one am indifferent to slightly intrigued whomever the Catholic Cardinals pick as the next Pope : they'll in my mind probably pick the wrong guy, because whenever do they pick the right guy, often times to me Bergoglio felt like a performer,

Saying nice things yet rarely delivering on anything actually, like telling people what they want to hear, when the audience differs from situation to situation - just another chameleon person, rolls my eyes, anyways what else is on TV news

Excellent film. I have no idea how accurate it was of the process for choosing a Pope but it was well acted and entertaining. A good alternative from the non stop Marvel films...

Hollywood trash to be honest. Reminds me of the davinci code. Hollywood loves trashing the Catholic Church.

It's a good movie and great performances. The screen play is a little bit weak at the end. I think it's best at showing the idea that almost no one is humble enough to really impartially ignore the desire to be the pope.

No but i read the plot, it makes me wonder why a pope RESIGNED when francis started.

@jshm2 Of course it's fiction, but it does give a glimpse into the Church and how it chooses a new Pope. Politics exist in the Church too.
