What superstition did you believe as a kid?

Since it's Friday the 13th, I thought I would ask this question.

I was a boring kid. I didn’t believe any of them. I even demonstrated with my Mom as an unknowing participant as I stepped on every crack. Well, more liked skipped from crack to crack. When she asked what I was doing I told what I was up to and she just rolled her eyes while shaking her head and I can see holding back a laugh and said my name, “Oh ____”.

Okay, maybe not so boring but only in the context of those sorts of old wives tales.

You've ever heard the superstition that when the car you're on is driving over a bridge, your supposed to lift your legs or you'll fall down? I believed that.

And there's another one which I really think my mom made up for some fun, that if you keep a book open while you're not reading then the ghoul of air will read the book and suck all your knowledge from that book.

I still close my books or notebooks when I'm taking a break during studies, because I so strictly believed that superstition that now it's just a habit and I don't wanna take risks with the air ghoul 😭

I think my favorite fun fact about this day is that it was purposely changed to be a “bad” day by the church. Originally, this date was meant to be a fertility festival, but obviously the christian church can’t encourage premarital sex so things got changed around lol

I heard all those as a kid and rejected them. Except one! I was walking with my ma and she shouted "stop stepping on those cracks! Step on a crack , break your mom's back" i said "you are too bossy from now on i will look for cracks"! But she only got back pain.

I remember hearing about the ladder one as a kid, so I tested it, obviously nothing happened except life. Though I probably became stubborn (or idiotic) about this notion, because I think I'm still, at times, walking intentionally under scaffolding as if I still had something to prove, to me? To the world? It's funny

Friday the 13th has always been lucky for me. I won my biggest haul on poker on a Friday the 13th. The other guys may have not felt so lucky though.

Baba Jaga. However there are many fairy tales about Baba Jaga in Slavic folklore. Most common is story similar to Hänsel und Gretel from Grimm brothers.
