In short, both Turkish and Kurdish halays are very repulsive dances. Unfortunately, Halay is an indispensable dance at weddings in Türkiye. It is very shameful that Türkiye's national dance is Halay. It is very unfortunate that we are remembered with Halay instead of Zeybek.

I've only seen people posting clips of busty girls doing it. They posted them for obvious reasons. But I'm sure that the dance is not only that, and I don't know what the rest of it is. Given how prevalent it is, I was guessing it's got a lot of interesting history.

I agree with you. That's why, I don't think this dance is particularly suitable for women. Personally, I've never performed Halay in my life. I find it rather off-putting and would have preferred Belly Dancing instead.

As for the main point, I believe this dance was inherited from the Armenians. If you look at Halays of Turks, Kurds, and Armenians, you’ll notice they’re all quite similar. Instead of Halay, I believe Zeybek should be considered Türkiye’s true national dance.

What’s your take on this? Would you ever want to try Halay? Do you find it beautiful?

It's Halay. It is mostly centered around Turkiye and has roots in other line dances. Line dancing is primarily European.
