Honouring somebody is not always about paying lip service to their reputation or including them in your parties through the church, it might involve respecting their feelings, genuinely wanting the best from inside your mind and not offering just a surface and fake level of concern for them.

it might involve practical actions, such as listening more intently if they have a quiet voice, taking care of their needs, such as helping them to clean up after a party when they are busy and do not have time to clean up, or even providing them with food or financial gifts if they are facing eviction or are trapped with high medical bills after a tragedy.

This is why some people offer practical service but not public praises, and yet God honours them as if they had publicly honoured others. Also including people and not judging them is an act of honour and that God also blesses.

You do not have to put somebody on a pedestal or defer to the as a higher being or as a superior leadership figure, if you simply refuse to judge or exclude all reasonable and kind people for any superficial bias or shallow motives, God will reward you as if you honoured those around you.

And the bible says when God honours you on earth, which he sometimes does, he does it in a such a way, that both the religious world, and the non-religious world will value you for who you are. If you are only respected by the religious world, or only respected by the non-religious world, then you are not truly honoured on earth.
