Is atheism suddenly growing among Latinos too?

I know of two Latinos that have identified themselves as atheists; my Mexican female friend and a Colombian co-worker; both are naturalized citizens.

Both come from religious families but never believed in a god nor religion. I've been reading this has been slowly growing; at a slower pace but they're coming out.

Is this small rise among hispanics and or Latinos a new trend?

In general TWO people, latinos, do not show a trend without a control group. But specifically the atheism responses here are extremely ignorant , and wishful... to the point of pathetic! FACTS: in latin america Christians ADDED sixteen MILLION in four years from 581 MILLION in 2014 to 597 million in 2018, at that rate by now 28 million more 625 million in 2025, FASTER than birth rate and adding christian not "atheism growing".

Even FASTER GROWTH in africa PASSING latin america in 2018 with 600 MILLION.

Even in u. s. people in colleges are bullied to lie they believe evolution, for career but almost all atheists are Christians bullied to lie.

It's growing everywhere. People claim that Islam will take over the world, but atheism is growing quietly in Islamic countries too. The skeptics are invisible because apostasy is a capital crime in many Islamic countries. The children of Islamic immigrants in western nations will leave Islam just as many children raised Christian have deconverted.

It’s more of a recognition that religion is ultimately a tool for oppression and they’re no longer buying that propaganda. It’s no coincidence that the poorest states and poorest countries also happen to be very heavily religious.

As a Peruvian woman here, It's not new. With the advance of science and technology as well as education and job opportunies, we're not buying it anymore. Religion was, is and will always be the opium of the people.

The only reason why there are high rates of religiosity among Latinos is because this goes back to the Spanish conquistadors. They forced Catholism among us. It was either that or get executed. I would've been killed if I were born back then.

Unrelated. It's the Spanish conquistadors that forced religion on us. We're just not buying it anymore. Meanwhile several children are starving elsewhere in the world and delinquency is increasing in my country, it's foolish to think praying and talking to imaginary people will solve those issues.

@Vesuvius87 There is credible historic evidence for many religious figures. It's established fact all across academia that certain people existed in history. If you believe they are God or not is a different matter, but none the less they are not fictitious people. All you are doing is exhibiting that you are uneducated.

I don't doubt the ancient drawings are indeed a masterpiece (not everyone has artistic skills to draw elaborated portraits on walls) and they represent powerful rulers and governments but deny the existence of supernatural, mystical beings. I actually do like the ancient Egyptian drawings. That's elaborated artwork.
They had a great imagination of how they saw the world from a pre-scientific understanding.

One example would be Flavius Josephus who was a Roman-Jewish historian and military leader who documents the existence of Jesus Christ. He was born in Jerusalem within the life of direct eye witnesses to the crucifixion of Jesus and do to his position in society has direct relationships with those involved in the trial.
