I heard a man say on TikTok that he thinks church is just a bookclub. It's where a bunch of people get together to discuss a book, hence, bookclub. How do you feel about this?

Honestly, that’s pretty close. Every book club I know also has a lot of judgmental people, and that also lines up with church. The difference is bible study is more of a book club and church is more of a book report presented by one person where maybe 30% of the listening audience has also read the same book.
No because they don't discuss it. One person cherry picks the bits he likes and tells everyone in the room to believe it or else
LOL, you should laugh that dimwit out of house.
Church tends to be a place were less book reading is done. More listening to the opinion based on an interpretation of a translation of a book is done.
No wonder churches are closing.
Far from it a book club is for fun and relaxation.

I think it's more of a community than that. Bible study is just one part of church activities. Not that I would know much about church activities, or care to find out.
It's a book they all pretend is true based on no evidence at all.
That's not true at all. Religiots can quote text from their magic book to prove their magic book is real and the literal word of their magic invisible sky fairy. And they are blind to the fallacy / irony of that.
Church ⛪️ is very important for us to learn about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior

I’m glad you are talking about church ⛪️ but it’s not a book club
Yes something like a book club just as long as you agree with the leader
Not remotely. Not even academically speaking would I agree.
Not entirely, but the community aspect of a church is important.
I see it as a mass coping mechanism
Church is a place to contemplate righteousness
No I don't
