Trending & News I'm neither spiritual, nor religious, so I'm of the opinion that it just ends. No afterlife, just nothingness.
Basically the same as all of time before we are born. Not blackness, not eternal sleep, just non-existence. Although I understand why some people would find that horrifying, I am perfectly content with it.
That’s so negative and depressing, why do people believe that?
Why? Why is comforting to think there’s nothing after death?
I find it comforting because it provides a conclusion. I wouldn't want to die, and then continue existing, in another form, without end.
Even the best songs, the best movies, and the best games have an ending. They wouldn't be nearly as satisfying if they just kept going, forever. An ending provides a sense of completeness.
I find that completeness satisfying, as it brings the story to an end, and provides meaning. If it never ends, there's no meaning.
That, and despite the fact that I believe myself to be a moral & ethical person, I don't like the idea of life being essentially a job interview for the afterlife.
Just imagine getting to the end, and hearing, "Sorry, you only contributed 9% of your income to the church, but the cutoff for heaven is 10%. Enjoy your eternity in hell."
I'm not making fun of religion, but trying to make a point. Even a 1% possibility of eternal torment sounds way more terrifying, to me, than just not existing, anymore. I'd prefer oblivion, to that.
I mean why wouldn’t you? You must hate your life Rn then. I would love for there to be more to this because otherwise why am i suffering in this life? If you do suicide, your life is technically incomplete, so what do you think of that?
I never said anything about hating life, or suicide. You're making assumptions that simply aren't true. If I did hate life, then I would be eager to transition to a state of bliss, in Heaven, and an end to suffering.
I'm not, though, because I find the idea of unending existence horrifying. It feels like a curse, to me. I think that existence does, and should, have an endpoint.
If this life is all we have, then it's more meaningful. If there is an afterlife, then our corporeal existence is meaningless, because the best part doesn't begin until after death.
I'm not trying to change your mind, and I doubt you'll ever understand my point of view, either, and that's fine. I'm just trying to explain why I prefer the concept of non-existence over an afterlife. I have nothing against anyone who feels differently; that's just not for me.
I love life, but i can’t live THIS life anymore because of pain and chronic illnesses. I hope that there’s more and a another life. Reincarnation. Because i want to be able to feel the sun on my skin again without worrying about my health.
The Four Last Things are death, judgment, Heaven, and Hell.

Die young, like age 9, is automatic heaven because didn't have a real chance to choose.
Nobody knows for sure but I think that there is something in the great beyond.
Your life force is re-absorbed into the Universal pool of psychic energy. How could it not be?
The same thing that happened before we were born
Wdym
