Is there a difference between believing that you are a good person based on a certain set of political opinions vs a certain set of religious opinion?

I think one of the annoying things about some religious people is that some of them (not all of them) believe that their religious beliefs make them a better person than others (AKA "holier than thou"). But it seems some political people (not all) believe the same thing. Is there really any difference? I mean, it's all just beliefs and opinions. No one knows for sure.

There is no essential difference between the religious and political person who believe their beliefs make them a better person than non-believers.

There is totally a difference. As a believer, my opinions really are good/right/just. Therefore, I am holier than a non-believer.

In America specifically there’s a LOT of overlap between evangelical christianity and conservatism, this is mainly because people started looking for politicians who “represent us” after a lot of christian families lost the fight against mandated integrations in schools in the 1970’s. Before that, christians couldn’t have cared less what politicians did as it rarely affected their churches. But now these days there are so many republican candidates who openly advertise their christianity because they know the christian population makes up 1/3 of the entire nation and it’s usually a smarter marketing move to appeal to them than not to.

Of course! Politics have AGENDAS causing to demand what you are allowed to say! But the p. c. thinks they are holier due to not doing micro-agression! That are "micro"! Not important stuff. But religion is the important stuff. Don't harm a fetus etc.

How holy is someone who won't say certain words but promotes hurting a human fetus... even when it feels pain in week 30!

I agree, but I think that's true of both sides. Liberalism is a form of religion too, with its own sacred beliefs and hatred toward non-believers such as MAGA.. And remember how liberals used to worship Obama? That guy was like a messiah in 2008! And Trump has become a Satantic figure for liberals, someone who is not even capable of doing good. For liberals, Trump must be resisted at all turns.
