Very few things ever do
Recently there was a snow fall where I live
I stood by my window and watched the snow cover the streets and buildings and trees
Before I even noticed it an entire hour had passed
I felt true peace during that time
But I eventually had to snap back to my hectic life10 Reply

4 moIt's not what i do and not what i think. But what my thoughts do. "Truth sets you free". But truth is not a thought or a deed. Being not-calm is actually not a problem as long as it's not combined with fear, and you’re only afraid when your thinking stops "doing" and starts just "happening" to you. Notice the process of producing the thought itself, then it becomes a willful act. You can see how fear grows where we aren't fully present, when the manufacturer of your thoughts isn't your evolved self, so sometimes being not-calm enough to disrupt and replace the one behind the wheel is what's needed to win. ㅤ
If you're confused as for how to achieve that. It's actually not about following a set of instructions detached from reality. And you can tell that what we're talking about is the epitome of spirituality in the present time. It's actually all very integrated with our natural lives. You automatically "follow the guru instructions" by making your life better: to learn to steer your thoughts willfully, be devoted to someone you love and find something objectively great to revere. These two different acts shouldn't instantly calm you, but they push you to start being less impulsive, which grows your thinking, which makes you less blind, which reduces fear, which calms you.
Trying to find perfection through the content of your thoughts will just turn you into a "holier than thou" person. Preachy fags who seek thrill in a churchy manner, but are still thrill junkies, trying to outpreach one another. Or like towelheads going toward extreme (pun intended) acts and thoughts, because regular acts and thoughts don't produce the magic they expect. And. And... I just want to say something offensive and enlightening all in one sentence, maybe @vadge_slayer can help me out here. ㅤ
10 Reply505 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Observing nature brings me peace. For me, it's like a form of meditation. Sitting on the ground, watching puffy, white clouds in a brilliant blue sky. Watching the movement of water in a babbling brook and listening to the musical sound. The ocean. Waterfalls. Forests. Admiring the colors and textures of landscapes. Breathing the air and the sweet smells. Feeling the sun and the breeze. Sitting on the grass and observing the various bugs purposely bumbling among the blades on their errands of discovery. Noticing the wide diversity of ground covering plants and tiny flowers that grow among the grasses. Getting close to a flowering bush and watching the bees and pollinators busily and, I think, happily going from flower to flower. Watching and listening to birds. Catching glimpses of lizards and other creatures. Observing the contrast and diversity of plants from mosses, to flowers to trees. Every living thing moves with purpose at its own designated pace. Yet they are content, unconscious of the passage of time or the weight of the world. They are 100% in the moment. They don't worry, they just do.
To be alive and have the opportunity to experience creation with all my senses fills me with gratitude, awe and wonder.
When I ponder these things my worries slip away for the moment. I think, "What's the worst that could happen?" Things will turn out as they will.
30 Reply1.8K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Years ago I wrote a mytake about my experience finding a solution to heal from the burnout : Burnout Experiences: Cleaning Your Mind Back to Sanity
I still do it since its the only way that works for me and if I don't I keep building stress up indefinitely so at least once a day I need to lay down, 22 minutes at a time (So I don't fall asleep, the guide says not to do that but if your mind isn't cluttered its good to set the alarm to keep the sleep schedule in place) and then basically just lay in bed as if I am going to fall asleep. Usually 10 minutes or so in my body begins to relax and then resets the stress. If its not enough I reset the alarm and continue.
Now mentally its rare for me not to be calm since I have a strong mind, but if I am to stressed my subcontious begins to dream about swimming pools. Its a really good swimming pool architect and the pools are fantastic with great slides. It invented multiple slides before they existed IRL such as racing slides, conveyer belt slides (I don't think those exist yet), using water to boost people back up and even elevators in the slide.
20 ReplyJust enjoying being alone in my nicely decorated apartment brings a sense of calm to me. I bought a lot of plants and nice things to look at.
Praying 🙏🏼 and worshiping God through Jesus Christ.
All I have to do is remember back when I was stuck in an office for 30 years and couldn't wait for 5:00 to come so I could leave there and go home. Now I am home everyday and I love it!!10 Reply
4 moMatcha green tea and ashwagandha. That was half a joke. I do have those and I do feel they have some decent effects.
But to answer your question... working out, showering, and sleep. Mostly sleep though. Maybe some indie/folk or house music too.10 ReplyLooking out to the sea. It has always brought me peace : from when I was a child spending the summer holidays at my grandparents flat overlooking the sea, to the place I moved to when I decided it was time to be completely independent.

4 moOddly enough I learned that using my snowblower when we get over a foot of snow very calming. My whole life I broke my back to shovel by hand but, it was rather calming and fun to be out there today with a well built machine humming along. It was 15F out side and I could have done the entire neighborhood lol.
10 ReplyA sense of calm comes from quiet moments , like sitting alone with your thoughts, listening to soft music, or being in nature.
