One of the tabloid stories this week from England focuses on a policewoman telling an angry group of Muslims a christian street preacher has the right of free speech

The crowd wasn't too happy with him preaching in what they considered a Muslim area. Here's a couple of short links

Now personally I think the preacher was being a knob head just looking to stir up trouble. It's not officially a Muslim area but it's clear everyone there is so it's obvious he's just there to get a reaction. I think he should have been arrested for hate crime.

The boy you say is a priest, I think he is from a Protestant branch.
He is not doing anything wrong or illegal and this kind of activity is quite common in the UK and even in London where I am.
Muslims do the same thing, they even sell their Koran in different languages ​​to promote/spread their religion, the word of Mohammed.

In England, if he had been preaching the Bible at an LGBT rally, the cops would have arrested him. Same thing if he had been preaching against Zionism. It would have been considered an antisemitic hate crime. So I think the cops, in this case, should have dragged him off to jail.

To those Christians who support this fuckwad, I wonder how they would react to Muslims preaching in front of a church or Christian school. I'm sure they would be offended and even outraged.

As an American, I believe in free speech in America, so I wouldn't be in favor or criminalizing what that guy did. I strongly support pro-Palestinian speeches and rallies, too, regardless of the "feelings" of Zionists. And I wouldn't oppose Muslims if they retaliated by going to that guy's church or home to pray outside. Let him see what it feels like.

This is a major problem in the UK and to a lesser extent, in the US. I think we need to tread gently here, as I don't want to demonize an entire religion, but this is a problem. Many Muslims come to the West, and they bring their backward ideas with them. Then they try to force those ideas on other people. This isn't Pakistan, it's London. You can preach the bible if you like, or any other religion for that matter. You can't beat your wife. People can buy a copy of the Quran or any other book and burn it if you like.

We need more people like this who are willing to engage with Muslims, not in a hateful way, but in a battle of ideas. That is how you prevent radicalization.

I think it is okey to give muslims the option of being exposed to other traditions and belief systems but wrong to force them to convert agains their will, or to disrespect them for their current religious status if it is different from their traditions. I once met a pastor in a church operating inside a busy mall who disrespected a Muslim that had walked into he area to grab water from the fountain, and the Muslim responded to her saying a real Christian would not disrespect somebody who believes in God. It is wrong to disrespect or hate people for their religious beliefs, but also wrong to try to censure or shut out ideas by alternative groups who want to share their beliefs.

Ya know what. I have never had a group of Muslims show up at my door trying to convert me to Islam. Nor have I ever answered the doorbell to find a group of Jews trying to convert me to Judaism. The same goes for Sikh's, Buddhists, and Hindu's.

Preaching the word of God isn’t a hate crime. The bible actually suggests that believers “testify” to others, and not just the choir. They are meant to spread the word to unbelievers. I find this preferable to the fundamental Islamist practice of killing infidels.
That said, know your audience. It’s almost unheard of to convert the faithful to another religion. Muslims aren’t any more likely to switch teams than Christians.
It’s easier to bring people into the fold when they are actively searching or obviously wanting. In that sense, it’s fair to suspect some knobheadery. Still it’s not a hate crime.
The most shocking thing about this story is that the authorities upheld freedom of speech. I didn’t think they did that in the UK. Something tells me that there’s more to this story.

Even being a Christian myself I'm not really a fan of street preachers of any religion. but as far as the law goes they aren't doing anything illegal and are perfectly within their rights to do so unless they go and purposely start antagonizing people.

As for Muslims they don't really have any right to complain about it ( if they do ) when they do the exact same thing. Everyone has a right to spread their own beliefs (peacefully ) regardless of whether or not those beliefs are right or wrong.

I pretty much just agree with your view , it's not clever , technically sure they can do it , expect same back I suppose , there is a particular golf course 40 minutes out of Bangkok , and when you stand on the 18th all you can hear is the Muslim prayers and chanting , doesn't seem to worry anyone , despite being a Budist country 95 % .
