Can emotional abuse in childhood cause people to become fake or dishonest?

Every liar I have ever met experienced bullying or emotional abuse or physical abuse as a child.

I would say I am more honest than some other people, because God gave me vicious punishments when I was fake or vain or greedy as a child.

My boyfriend hates certain people in my family for their morals and values. But if God did not punish me so frequently when I was a teenager, I would be just as immoral as the people my boyfriend hates.

Well you have to ask yourself. Was it god to punish you or was it the immoral people that were in your house that your boyfriend hates

Either way, you use that you were doing wrong. If you were and you adjusted , you thought about it and if you did wrong
You went through the things that you went through to learn to become a better person

From five years old to ten years old , I was beat with a belt till I was black and blue
When I did something wrong , no matter what it was

I could not understand how somebody could beat you so severe and then tell you they love you

But no matter why I was beaten I didn't let it break me. It made me stronger. And when I had my son , I promised myself that I would never yell at him , I would never put my hand on him , I would never hurt him

And if he did something wrong , he was gonna get about two minutes of my words to teach him

He wasn't gonna get anything take it away from him. Put on restriction or put in time out

. He was going to be given more responsibility

I think the question that you're asking could be true. Because it's a coping mechanism

Instead of figuring everything out, they're still stuck in that same place to get away from, not getting in trouble or not getting beat. Instead of figuring it all out , they're still stuck if they are doing what you asked.

Everyone lies, because we learn from an early age that if we want to be accepted or loved we have to conform. It doesn't necessarily stem from abuse but often from the fact our parents were raised in a different era with different values.

Lying isn't inherently bad, it's a protective mechanism. The real question to ask is what the lie is protecting, it's rarely the statement but something more deep that's hurting inside.

Emotional abuse can cause many issues. However, when I was fake or vain or greedy as a child, God gave me loving lessons which guided me to learn morals in a positive way.
