Christmas is now more commonly known as 'the holidays' or 'winter festival' so why are we still calling Easter Easter?
Christmas was dropped from Christmas because hardly anyone goes to church and having the 'Christ' bit in the name was bad marketing. Now if you look at Easter a few generations ago you'll find lots of religious based traditions but these days it's just a chocolate holiday.
So is it time to rename Easter something more exclusive? Spring festival, egg week, that kinda thing?

@purplepoppy i never saw, nor do I see now, any reason to re-name Christmas or Easter. Not being a Christan, or really celebrating, those holidays as such is not a problem for me. While at Boeing, the Morons there had a "Winter Holiday" party at Christmas. while trying to be politically correct with all of the foreign countries that they had contracts with. I never attended nor do I ever plan to attend a 'Winter Holiday', or something else the spineless half-wits want to rename it.
Maybe we should ask all of the Moslems living here to re-name Ramadan to something else to avoid offending those Christians in the U. S? Maybe the Moslems would not mind calling Ramadan "Winter-fest-Fasting festival"?
My only problem with “Easter” is that island that stole the name and literally never celebrates the holiday. Weird. Where i come from, there’s a town called “Christmas” and seasonal decorations are up year round. Lots of stores and restaurants have year round specials named for the holiday too. It’s the place Christmas looneys go to get their fix in the spring and summer. You can usually get good off season deals on Christmas staples too. It’s both fun, if you’re into that sort of thing, and functional. How often do you get that combination of utility in anything? Ever?
That's a lot of Pasqua, also you made me realize there's "Christ" in Christmas lol. In my language, according to what I'm looking at, the word Christmas hasn't explicitly referred to Christ since a thousand years... The last time seemed to be in Latin: Christi natalis Dies.
Why not rename it the Spring Breeding Festival and make it a celebration of uninhibited no questions asked sex. I mean isn't that basically what nature does in spring? Every plant, animal, bird, fish, and insect is busy gettin busy. Why not recognize reality for a change?
They breed in the fall and give birth in the spring
@whosnumber_1 ,
Really? Fish? Insects? Rabbits? Squirrels? Coyotes? Birds? Frogs? Plants? They all have gestation cycles that last 6-7 months from Nov - Apr? What planet are you living on?
The only thing that fits your description is large mammals. But even a lot of those aren't fall breeders. Cattle are bred in the spring. Raccoons breed Jan- Mar. Bobcats Feb - Mar. Bison Jul - Aug.
But all that aside, I still think a global day of uninhibited sex would be better than colored eggs and chocolate bunnies and over eating. Much more Pagan practical than Christian shaming.
You have trouble acknowledging your own mistakes. Not a good look. YOU literally wrote “EVERY plant, animal, bird, fish and insect…”. But that’s not true at all. Not even close. First comment is 100% correct because they used no absolutes, like you did. Lots of animals mate in the fall and give birth in the winter or spring. Bears emerge from hibernation with brand new cubs. Deer birth in the spring. So do rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, possums.
Don’t throw a hissy fit because someone publicly highlighted your woeful ignorance. A simple, “Thank you for educating me!” would be best path forward. Or continue doubling down on your own ignorance like a nimrod. 👍👍
@Chazmatazz269 ,
And the tRump nut hanger shows up. Sorry but try again when your reading comprehension ascends to a 3rd grade level.
I really couldn't think of anything else to reply so here's a meme. And Happy Easter!
😂😂😂
No.
It exists to honor the day Jesus rose from the dead.
If you do not believe that then it is just another day to them. No "inclusion" needed.
Just get rid of people who have a problems with this name.
How about we rename the "atheism" to "empty heads phenom" since the word atheism sounds complex, we can rename them into a simple word "brainless" 👍🏻
Almost nobody renamed Christmas except for the insane left who don't really celebrate it anyway.
No, it's better to link it with pagan spring rituals
Joe Biden tried to cancel Easter and turn the day into some gay holiday.
At least in the U. S. I don't see people who are Jewish, Muslim, or Hindu, giving out Easter eggs. However, Christmas is much more widely adopted.
Because everyone celebrates Christmas, but only Christians celebrate Easter
Everything is called the holidays not Christmas. America has changed last 20 years.
religion is a load of bollox
