If Catholics violated a pope’s teaching, are they really Catholic?

The main differ between protestants and catholics is: catholics are led by a pope, that 'reigns'. So if a catholic disobeyed pope , are they really catholics? For example avoiding pregnancy. Pope taught forbidden to use all those evil methods! so if a couple did use any of them , they are not really led by pope so are they really catholic? Sure they pray to Mary, but the main thing, they don't obey pope! how are they catholic?

The role of the Pope is to control Catholic governance. So the Pope appoints Bishops and Councils which determine the hierarchy in the church. Those appointed Bishops then ordain Priests and Deacons which bring the gospel to Parishioners. The pope is the Bishop of Rome; the vicar of Christ. That is to say he is the appointed head of the Bishops to act as a "government representative" for Christ on Earth by the other Bishops in the College of Cardinals or the Conclave. If the Pope doesn't follow scripture truly then he is a bad representative for his constituent Jesus Christ. So just like how many people in AOC's district don't think the decisions she makes are good or even legal for that matter, Jesus can think the same of Popes. It's not a Parishioners duty to follow the Pope, it's the Parishioners duty to follow God. If the Pope isn't true in his defense of the scripture and doesn't shepard the Church properly, then he's fucked in every sort of way. The hope is that the Pope does a good job and uses scripture appropriately to guide the flock, but if he doesn't he will be judged far more harshly than a Parishioner...

Years ago the pervert priest story was revealed. This was always something I heard about from local law enforcement. The cops would never arrest a priest because the cops were afraid they would go to hell but often they would give the priest a visit and try and straighten him out. All this was kept under wraps and the Vatican just would transfer the priest to another church. When all this came out my wife who was a devout Catholic stopped going to church. She still believes in God and still considers herself to be a Catholic but does not have any faith in the church itself.
A lot of other people felt the same way and it pope leo does not get his head on straight he will chase away a new generstion of worshippers just whan religion is stsrting to make a comeback.

It depends on what it is.

If it's a matter of settled dogma, like the Eucharist, the Trinity, the Immaculate Conception, abortion, same-sex marriage, or something along those lines, then no.

If, however, if it is a matter of prudential judgment, such as the death penalty or how best to relieve poverty of handle immigration, that is where disagreement is allowed.

It's important to note though that neither the Church, the Faith, or their doctrines "belong", if you will, to the pope. He does not own them, he is just their chief guardian and custodian.
